Need a pendulum

Nina*

Hi all :)

I want to try to work with a pendulum, but really don't know much about it.
Could any of you tell me what would be the best kind of pendulum (crystal or some kind of metal) and how to work with it (generally and together with tarot perhaps...)?

I got my favourite pendulum from my favourtie crystal shop - www.kacha-stones.com
They specialise in ethically mined crystals (which is an important factor when buying crystals for me).
It's clear quartz on a silver chain.

It's another one of those personal taste things. You can make a pendulum out of a key on a bit of string if you like.
I have 3 pendulums; amethyst, clear quartz and rose quartz. The amethyst one and the clear quartz one seem to work the best for me.
I don't have any metal pendulums but I quite fancy trying one.

Thanks, Sulis :)

I actually do have one in metal (I think it's brass) even if I'm not sure how to work with it.
I just wondered, before starting out, if people found that the ones made of crystal etc. were better....

Hi Nina, the old wife's would make use of a ring on a string, or a needle on a string for a pendulum.
I've got a moonstone and a brass plumb.
I haven't tried the brass plumb, and have limited experience with the other.
(gosh, I hate having all my things packed up)

I tried several different pendulums at the metaphysical shop- made from both crystals and metal. None of those seemed to respond to me very well. What did respond well was the amethyst pendulum on a silver chain that I bought online. I also have gotten good results with a necklace, a bracelet, and a washer on a string. I think anything that has a balanced weight on it will work well.

Good luck,

I was using a ring on a chain for a while. It worked very well (well...as well as pendulums ever work for me! :D)

And then Iwanted to buy a really pretty one from a vendor who had a lot of crystal ones.

They were all quite lovely...I had my heart set on an amethyst or citrine one...or a beautiful tourmaline one she had.

I tried them all out...some would barely even swing!

Then, as I was giving up on having a pretty little pendulum...

I carelessly picked up a plain clear quartz one...
and it started swinging wildly, then continued swinging in wide arcs and circles.

"I guess that's the one" the vendor said dryly.

But...but...I wanted a pretty one!

But I haven't regretted it...it apparently was the pendulum for me. I don't use anything else now.

And once I told it how I wanted it to respond...(across for no, back and forth for yes, small circles for cold, wide circles for hot) it has been the most accurate pendulum I have ever used.

Thanks to all of you. :)

Aha... so *I* have to tell the pendulum how to say 'yes' and 'no'....
But what do you use 'warm' and 'cold' for, Chronata (I guess it's NOT for checking your cup of coffee :D )?

Still don't know about the pendulum itself though... Maybe I should just try to use the one I've already got (even if I'd also prefer a pretty one ;) ).

Ohhh, you told the pendulum how to respond? I let mine tell me ;)

Chronata

well, all the books I read about dowsing seemed to indicate that you, and your tools need to be on the same wavelength...and using the same system!

(but they also say that if your tools don't want to answer...you have to respect that too!_

So yes...I tell it how I want it to answer.

the hot/cold is for when I have lost something :D (it happens a lot around here!)

I go through rooms and let it tell me if I am getting closer to the object.(warmer! or cooler...)

Though one time, It was swinging erradically, and it turned out the missing item was outside in the car! :D

Ahhhhhh.... I see!!!

Okay, I'm definitely up for teaching my pendulum how to respond - will start tomorrow morning and hope I don't loose something before having tought it how to say 'warm' :D :D
