Faery Wisdom, or Fairy pack?

Chronata

I'm always on the hunt for new and interesting oracles, and I do love my fairies!

So I have been looking into getting a new fairy oracle deck of some sort (yes, I know I already have a bunch...but one can never have too many fairies about!)

The two that interest me at the moment...

the Fairy Pack by Claire Nahmed

and the Amy Brown Faery Wisdom deck.

Ihave done some searches here, to see what people think of these two...but I haven't found enough specifics to really make a decision...

so I was hoping if anyone here has either or both, if you could tell me what you think?

Here's what I am thinking...

I like oracles that have some balance. in other words...no Virtue type of happy positive all the time messages for me. I need an oracle with some teeth!

The fairy pack looks intersting, but damn if I can't seem to find anything online that shows more than the cover of the box! I would love to know more about what the cards are like...an example of titles...are there keywords? that sort of thing. I think I like the wild look to her art as well...

now...the Amy Brown deck. I heard that its just reprints of all her old art done up as an oracle. Sometimes this works (like Froud, which I believe is brilliant) and sometimes not. Curious to know if anyone uses it. I remember before it came out there was a lot of buzz..and then not much else!
Now,I don't actually own any Amy Brown art, so no problems with getting anything I already have.

in fact, for a while, her art simply annoyed me. I think it might have been the extreme marketing/commercialism. Or maybe it was simple artist jealousy. :D

Anyway, I'm over it now! And maybe thinking if I am going to have any Amy Brown artwork...it should be at least useful to me. Hence, the oracle fixation at the moment.

so, if anyone can enlighten me further about these two, so I can make a decision...that would be awesome!

What do you like about them? What don't you like?

Little Hare

i had the faery pack by claire but gave it away, it is a nice deck but is not laminated so the cards feel as if they could get quiet scrappy, i did find them good to read with and i connected with the faey energy quiet well but i felt they weren't for me.

The cards are numbered with the title at the bottom of the card

Chronata

Thanks Pixie! I don't mind the non laminated feel of certain decks.

but what were the titles like? Did they seem to based on some sort of system? Seasons or...kinds of fairies, maybe? Or were the titles just words ...or phrases?

Jewel

Chronata, I have both of those decks. Just got the Fairy Pack recently and just started the book. Amy Brown's deck to be honest is a lot of pretty pictures. The Fairy Pack looks does seem to have a system, and some basis in mythology, and even talks about some angels. On the surface I would say the Fairy Pack is deeper. The Amy Brown deck is fun, and probably better for daily draws.

Pumpkin

I have the Fairy Pack. Here are a few cards so that you can see a few samples. :D

I just got it, haven't tried to read with it.

Oh THANK YOU! Pixie, Jewel and pumpkin!

This is exactly what I was looking for!

I am really drawn to the Claire Nahmed drawings! Wow...those are beautiful...and they aren't excessively marketed, so they don't annoy me like Amy Brown! :p
And I love the multi cultural feel as well as the titles! The titles alone give me a nice intuitive spark!

Thanks again...I think I know which ones to buy now!

~chuckles~ Chronata, I look forward to seeing how you feel about the Fairy Pack. I am taking my time with it, as I am currently immersed in some other decks, but I do read along as I can. The art drew me too, but more than that the promise of folklore and elemental correspondences. I have read the very beginning of the book, and spells and such did nothing for me, but when she talks about contacting the faeries I am familiar with that as I have attuned to them through the faeries oracle. I think you will find this too based on your experience with FO.

Totally different deck to be sure, but I like that there is an emphasis on really connecting with the faeries - although I find the methods a bit to structured for my taste. I think I will approach getting to know them perhaps by even using some of the Froud book exercises.
