View Full Version : Draining Amethyst? Sucking up the colour...

One of the mums at work said that she can't wear Amethyst as she sucks the color up, she said it's weird, if she wears amethyst for the day the purple goes and the stone is left crystal looking with no purple colour what so ever. I said I didn't know why that could be, so am asking here if anyone would have an idea.

She must have a real need for the properties of amethyst within her electromagnetic field. At least that sounds good to me.
Does she do any other stone this way?

does the color come back after she takes it off???

Wow I am stunned! I LOVE amythest - never happened to me.

Thanks for the replies floracove and franniee

I'll have to ask her again next week (if I remember) she said it happens to her brother as well, both can't wear amethyst as the purple just disappears. I think she said the color never returns to the stone

I love amethyst too, glad it doest happen to me.

Properties of amethyst? Hmm interesting. Going to check crystal bible

I had a look in the crystal bible, didn't find anything. Would you happen to know which properties these would be?

Thanks :)

I'm wearing some now and it's just as purple as it was this morning. Hard to imagine how this could happen...might she have been pulling your leg?

No, I don't think so. We always have chats and she's a lovely lady. As floracove mentioned this lady could just be low on properties that amethyst provides. It does sound strange. If I remember next week I'll ask her again.

Thanks for the interest :D

I wonder if she's a healer?

Not to be the cynic.... but are the amethysts reputable? ^^;

Not to impugne anyone's honor, but irradiated or dyed stones can lose their color really fast depending on how they're done and what kind of environment.

I remember in high school some people's class rings lost color by graduation!

Perhaps gifting her with a trusted piece of amethyst would be a good way to run a controlled expirement.... and a lovely way to brighten some one's day. ^.^

Since her brother does the same thing it may be something in their chemical makeup.

Find out if they do this with other stones, just cause I'm curious...
Hope this helps.

You can do a search yourself to find more, just use keywords like "amethyst properties", "amethyst correspondences" or "amethyst healing properties"

OK so I was shopping for my tarot exchange kit and wandered into an american indian store on saturday. I spoke with the owner and he was so insightful! I asked him about your friend and the amethyst and he said YES that does happen!!! He said Amethyst is the highest frequency crystal and he has seen it drain of color. He said your friend probably needed it. He said when he wears turquoise it will often turn brown - when he takes it off and leaves it be for a bit it recharges. The other man in the store also confirmed it.

I had asked about dream catchers and then he offered that if you put an amethyst under your pillow you will only have good dreams.....

He was a wonderful man - had a beautiful aura. :)

This thread has just blown me away, I have an amethyst power bracelet and a mixed power bracelet that also contains amethyst. Now whenever I wear these the amethyst fades in colour so be the end of the day I'm left with a half purple, half white stone.
I'll take it off and the next day the purple is more of less back to normal, although it is significantly paler than when I first purchased it.

This is really interesting!

on the other hand I know of an ex-AT'er who while doing shamanic journeys has 'cleared' quartz crystals.

Such occurrences are factual.

Amethyst also fades in sunlight.

I would think that the bodies' unique electromagnetic field would affect a stone in certain ways...

This happens to me with a carved piece of jade which I use in healing sessions. The color (and energy) is restored when I place the jade in a circle of quartz with the points inward.

In Melody's book Love is in the Earth, she talks about "transformation quartz" which will change in color, quality, clarity etc. with use or over time. Since amethyst is a type of quartz, it probably can fall into this category as well.

I have a big piece on my dining table, in the room where I have set up my "space" and my amethyst drains to, every full moon it goes outside for 24 hrs to be charged and cleansed by the moon and sun and its colour comes back lovely and deep

I have a cabochon cut amythist set in a Mjöllnir that I’ve worn since 73. It has never faded.

I have to agree that this does happen.

My experience...my pendulum is Rose Quartz and when I am set up doing readings, it is on my table...as the day goes on it will turn white...by the next morning, it's normally back it's original color.

I am so glad I saw this thread! I have a lovely amethyst, but every time I meditate with it it turns white. It does regain it's color, but it is paler than when I got it.

You can not "suck" out the color of Amethyst, you make it pale by exposure to sunlight, or the Chromofores (metal depositis in the stone) reaction to outside electromagnetic and heat sources. Nothing leaves the stone, the color center just destabalizes, which would eventually cause it to be quartz.

Either way, the amethysts in question has a unstable color center are are untreated with extra irraditation or "heat treatment." These are the best kinds for energy work, as they are part of nature. Most are heat treated or irradiated for "extra" color. More useful to the jeweler, but not the occultist. In my opinion, the best stones seem to work until they lose their charge. Then they generally work for capacitors for other stones, or "processors" or "monitors" or even (input devices - like a wand tip) not "power cores", per se.

There are other ways to restore color to gems, i.e. "feeding" them, but in general that is a sign they are just rendering to quartz like they would have in nature. Sometimes it is better to just let them do that.

I use a piece of rose quartz to outwardly verify the change in the electro-magnetic field. It gets paler as an indication that the work is ready to begin.

This means the electromagnetic field is actually changing.

(I also use an EMF/ELF meter to verify when REAL changes occur)

Also note, lots of ungrounded electronics can be the source for changes like this. It is to my mind, one of the greatest ways to verify stones have a "life" per se, and an expiration date. Artifically treated ones are sort of "lobotomized" to me. They just don't have the same personality.

I wear an amethyst bracelet for everyday use. When I first bought it, it was very dark purple, almost black. After half month of use, it change its color lighter, like greyish purple. And looks clearer or transparant. I thought it because of the sunlight, but when I take it of, even when I put it on my desk next to the window, it change darker within minutes
