Egyptian Scarab Oracle

FaireMaiden

Anyone have the Egyptian Scarab Oracle by DeTraci???

Would like to know about it, and whether you like it or not... Thanks, *s*

Chronata

I just recived it as a surprise gift, and I love it!

But then, I think it's the crow in me...to love all sorts of little "things" that you can hold in your hand (as is clearly evidenced by all the oracles I have created! :D)

The little scarabs themselves are immensely cool...but the book is also a real winner. Since I already like hieroglyphs, that was a nice starting point...but there is also a lot of nice detail in the meanings of each scarab symbol.

It's a pretty good introduction to Egypt, but not as in depth about the mythic structure as some other books.

Still...Its fun and fascinating, and has been really accurate in the past week of readings I have done with it.

It's really one of those fun oracles.

I picked up the Egyptian Scarab Oracle when it first came out several years ago since I'm drawn to all things Egyptian.

I agree with Chronata that it's a great basic introduction to ancient Egyptian symbolism. I also like that possible interpretations are provided for various types of readings such as love, money, career, health, etc.

My only complaint is that the scarab tiles are made of a weird rubbery plastic, rather than ceramic like The Eye of Horus oracle by David Lawson, which is also excellent.

I agree that it is great fun!

Thank you both so much, {{{Chronata & JDecius}}}, for your responses to my inquiry... I think I'm going to get this oracle, *vbs*... and I'm going to look into the Eye of Horus oracle... thanks for the recommendation of that one too!!!

I have the Egyptian Scarab Oracle and I picked it up for only $6.99 at Discount New Age Books. My local shop was charging the full retail price ($34.95) so I was glad that I shopped around before I bought it there. I like it a lot.

I also really lucked out when, not just once but twice, I came across these really cool tin pencil cases at my local thrift store. They no longer had the pencils in them but are really awesome and I put my scarabs in one of them. On the back of the cases I discovered that they were from The British Museum gift shop. They can be ordered online from their website. (They have a lot of really cool things!)

Here is the first one I found and has my scarabs in it:
