Comet or Falling Star Last Night?

MedusaWasAMermaid

Does anyone know if a comet fell last night? If it didn't, it might have been a falling star, but something- a bright, fiery ball, fell from the sky and behind the hill that is behind my house.

Comets, meteorites

Comets tend to be be large with long trailing tails of ice and gases. They are often seen for days and weeks before passing near the earth. Meteorites are often quite small but big enough to cause a mini-fire-ball as they enter the Earths atmosphere. Most burn up before hitting ground, but some survive and are even found. Our planet passes through swarms of them several times each year and through/near many of them every day. Lucky for us, most are about the size of a grain of sand or a small rock. Dave
