This could be a place to list the best-of-the-best books and articles directly relevant to Therapeutic Tarot.

I'll start with"

_Tarot and Psychology: Spectrums of Possibility_ by Art Rosengarten, PhD, which is reviewed at:
http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/books/psychology-spectrums/

You can also find two articles at Wiley InterScience (which I can't afford to register for) by Inna Semesky, PhD:

"Tarot as a projective technique"
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/abstract/113491108/ABSTRACT

"Integrating Tarot readings into counseling and psychotherapy"
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/abstract/112225004/ABSTRACT

EDITED TO ADD: I've since gotten a copy of each from Inna. Excellent material and very relevant to this Board. She has a website with related articles at:

Not sure if this book will be applicable, but I am using it for myself and know a lot of people either are or have worked with it:

I think it's a wonderful book for this topic. I was wondering when someone was going to mention it.

HOLMES

well

I found the shadow work book to be hard, and i never finished it.
one point is , i do not think this can be used with a client who just came for a reading.. due to the process of going from spread to spread over time letting the person deal with their issues that come up.

but since that book was mentioned,
we must mention the sequel.

Tarot for the Healing Heart: Using Inner Wisdom to Heal Body and Mind

Yes, this is a self-help therapy book. But the principles and some of the techniques or spreads, when well-understood, can be incorporated into therapeutic readings for others.

It is an excellent book to work with, but I agree, it does take a bit of time to work through the various spreads and I don't think that it was designed to be used in a single session.

I'd like to suggest Mary's book '21 Ways to read a Tarot card' for excellent suggestions as to how Tarot can be used in a therapeutic manner - ie encouraging the sitter to talk, rather than the reader interpreting the cards.
