Tarot of the Holy Light

Le Fanu

Well there's this about the cardstock, taken from the review;

The cards themselves are 3” by 5”, with what is termed a linen texture. I noticed this immediately, and had to ask Christine what that was. I described it to her as “looking like linen”, and was very surprised to hear that that was the term used to describe it! Held up to the light, fine linen-like lines can be seen. The texture itself makes the cards less slippery, and easier to handle. Kudos for making this choice!

Well, I ordered it this morning right after I read the first two posts and followed the links.

Did everyone see the images posted here?

Coming from the U.S, Customs loom, wringing their hands at how much they can surcharge me. So I wonder how much it will cost me if I order.

This always makes me nervous. I have ordered decks from France and Italy to the UK, and never had any trouble. I have also ordered decks from Amazon US without charges, but a deck from Tarot Connection incurred a hefty Customs charge. I am guessing that it is a matter of luck, and that they tend to leave items from better known retailers.

I could tell you a story... Lots in fact.

Last time I was stung, it was as if they knew the exact value of a rare deck I had bought. They hung onto it, demanding impossible documents tormenting me like a cat with a mouse. It took me over two months to finally free the package. they didn't believe anything I said. They knew the value and they weren't buying any of the stuff on the envelope about its worth.

I so nearly didn't get it.

Amazon stuff always comes through without hassle

Michael Dowers (the artist) found it important his brother made the art for the box, and that he did his own thing to it.

as for the cardstock the cards are textured (linen as said before) but sturdy yet not stiff souple without being bendy.

the art is consistent throughout the deck and what i would call in equilibrium, between the positive and negative energies represented by each.

The more I look at it, the more I love it. I've always adored these kinds of old hermetic, alchemical drawings.

It might just be me, but it seems like there's a sense of humor here too. Look at the Emperor. The hair! He reminds me of Shepard Book on Firefly, the episode where he has his hair untied and it scares River. :p

How synchronistic! I was just reading a book by Christine Payne-Towler and then this deck comes to surface.

la-luna..would you know if the cardstock is similar to the cardstock used for Deirdre of The Sorrows? That deck also has very linen like cardstock.
