Prairie Tarot by Robin Ator

Carla

(Mentally thinking of appropriate fabric to accent the deck.....:?: ).

Deck bag made of a traditional red bandana, denim color on inside, drawstring a piece of twine. Or bandana in, denim out. :) Or for something less cliche, how about a paisley in sunset colours?

I received my deck today, really fast! 4 days after I ordered it.
I really like it. The artwork is great, the cardstock is nice, it's got
a sturdy box to keep it in. I can't wait to spend more time with it.
I just looked through it quickly but plan to go over it more this week.
I'm very happy with it! I'm glad I ordered it.

Indeed it is!

I just ordered one. Forgive my noobishness, but the form didn't ask for name and address. But I paid via Paypal, and that info is on record with them. So everything is fine, right? (I don't usually deal directly with Paypal/payments.)

ETA: Never mind, I just got a confirmation email, and all is well. Nothing to see here! Move along! ;)

I'm looking forward to it... I've looked at it on Flickr many times, and always had in mind to get one eventually.

Amazing, I have just received my deck! That's less than 48 hours! Thank you Robin. :)
And it's beautiful. I haven't had time to do more than look through it, but I can tell I'm going to love this one.

ETA: Still loving it. Question: what kind of bird is the skeleton on the Death card?

rota

The bird skeleton is based on the crow. It's there to remind me of the life/death cycle. On the plains, a gathering flock of crows means that some animal has died. The crows are there to feed, and generally clean the place up.

I thought it might be a crow. The skull looks about right for a crow's skull (I have one cast in silver). And the symbolism is perfect. Thanks for answering. :)

I haven't actually used it for a reading yet, but I've been enjoying looking at it, and comparing it card by card with my Rider Waite. I really like it.

I just got this deck today. I like it very much! Makes me think of my dad, who loved his Westerns, and of Little House on the Prairie, so important in my childhood, and of all the John Wayne movies and other Westerns I used to watch on Saturdays...and it just stirs up all sorts of meaning to me. The images are so instantly evocative. I really like this deck and can't wait to use it.

This one is on my list! Carla, I feel the same as you - instantly wanted it after seeing it in a video somewhere. It looks awesome.....maybe after the holidays....

My copy just arrived today, and all I can say is wow. Seeing tarot in a new light like this, using symbols that speak to me more than other traditional decks, has made me realise how powerful a symbol can be when you have other personal experiences that it triggers...

(My grandmother's family came to Eastern Oregon via the Oregon Trail; many still live out there. These cards make me think of her, and them, and also about stories of my grandfather, whose family homesteaded at Hood River. Dad has stories about his father, who was born in the late 1800s, and how he would buy ponies from Indians as they passed through.)

I am really connecting with this deck - far more than I expected I would; and far more than some of the more complicated decks like Tarot of the Holy Light (which I am going to try and get rid of - it's just too much).
