EEK Cockroaches!!!

prudence

Hmmm, cockroaches, eh?

I hope that there will be a strong "ick factor" in these cards...like, don't make them too sterile looking, or too pretty...but at the same time, I hope they will be dressed up in some kind of finery...are you going with any particular era for these bugs (theme-wise)? I am not sure if that is possible though; absolutely creepy looking cockroaches (in up close detail, if you can manage that) wearing lovely dresses and maybe even some fancy wigs? It would be even cooler if you could put nasty little parasites crawling through the fancy wigs!

Yuck, I am giving myself the heebiegeebies. :bugeyed:

How exciting to get responses already - I have quite the head-cold so responding with the quotes function here is way beyond my skill set today - let me just say I am grateful for the suggestions -

The wings may or may not be on the final card - the deck being in a larvae stage as it were (tee hee)...as well as the size issue -

Closrapexa so far only roaches...as Yora mentioned everything has something to teach ..

btw- do not look up cockroach larvae images - went to check spelling and need a few more rounds with my Spirit Guide before I am able to find the holiness within - as I said this is a work in progress

Cockroaches are so eternal it is hard to pin down one era... although the stenching armpit that was Europe in the early middle ages is tempting. Imagine how many cockroaches could live in a wig like this ...

They used to style those wigs with animal fats and flour :)

Roach heaven, no doubt about it.

That would make for a real interesting take on the court cards

Excellent!

Suggestion:
To do this really well, you must think more like a roach:
For the ace of cups, consider a dirty glass instead of a golden chalice.

The Death card = A box of Borax.

Debra

Yes! Think more like a roach. More authentic, plus will speed spiritual advancement to see the world through their eyes. Or whatever sense organs are most appropriate.

Do you have a title?

La Cucaracha Divinatore?

Debra

Or maybe that's too French.
How about "Cockroaches Divine"? Kind of going along with the "Animals Divine" deck, but more irony.

As for clothing. Normally I don't like clothed realistic-looking animals. Maybe if I could get my cats to sit still for costume changes I'd feel better about it. But for me, clothing on realistic animals seems creepy. On the other hand, for this project it might be an improvement, although this would violate the "think like a cockroach" approach that OnePotato advocates.

Lots of decisions!

Feel better soon  ((((((((Nicky!)))))))))

I am a fan of cockroaches. I used to have pet ones hahaha. Brings me back to the movie Joes Apartment. I am all for it!

Mulling over One Potato's fine suggestion I have an idea for the 3 of Cups ... will have to work out some rough edges but thank you so much for the inspiration!

PS- fun cockroach tidbit:
Female cockroaches are sometimes seen carrying egg cases on the end of their abdomen; the egg case of the German cockroach holds about 30 to 40 long, thin eggs, packed like frankfurters in the case called an ootheca.
