Hey VGimlet,

I just received the Wicca Moon Tarot, and I'd like to sign up with it. However, it only has 74 cards, because the King and Queen are combined into one card.

So, I'm wondering -- does it qualify as a Tarot deck for the purposes of this thread?

If it does, I'd like to use it in conjunction with Elder Futhark Runes.

Thank you.

Sounds like a tarot deck to me! (I am not a purist) I think I used my Wicca Moon as a tarot as well when I used it here. :D I will add you to the list.

Romantic Tarot - hmm, it's just a little too fussy for me. Although I do like the cards, and it shuffles nicely, and it reads pretty well. But not really ringing any bells. Oh well.

Yay! Thank you! I just received mine this week and can't wait to spend more time with it!

I discovered the Wicca Moon Tarot by accident -- I didn't even know it existed until I stumbled across it while looking for something else entirely. (Vinyl records -- somehow searching for old mono Bob Dylan albums brought me to the Wicca Moon Tarot. :p)

I've known for awhile that I understand my readings better and can deliver a clearer message if I stick to less cluttered, less pictorial minors. However, I still like to see something more than just plain suit symbols. Wicca Moon's pips deliver just the right amount of the energy for me -- not too hot, not too cold.

Decided to pair my Tarot with Runes this week. Today's Rune draw gave clarity to a nebulous pairing.

You may know this already, Madrigal, but the Pearls of Wisdom deck makes use of runes. Most of the cards have one or two runes at the top or the side borders. I know nothing about runes myself, but I've been following the posts of another member on the Pearls study group thread. It is AMAZING how closely the runes connect to the card meanings, or add extra depth to what is already there. Just thought I'd share that. :)

Thanks RRD, I'll check it out. I'm finding it really interesting how the Runes add a layer of clarity to the card pairings that I might have otherwise not had access to.

Sorry I've been MIA this week! Seems like my poor kiddos pick up every illness on the planet, so I've been tending to my little sicklings. :)

Swedishfish, the Victorian Fairy was a deck I was given as a gift, and I didn't think I would enjoy it. It turned out to be a fantastic deck with much thought put into the artwork and book (in my opinion). I'll be curious to see how you find it. :)

I'm feeling very impressed with Victorian Fairy, from the artwork to the book! I bought this deck last spring and while I did a few readings with it, I don't think I've done DOTW with it until now. Honestly, it has been a little neglected because I bought it at the same time as Tarot of the Hidden Realms (which shot its way up into my top 10 decks so fast it nearly made my head spin! lol). So I played with it a little and then it got shelved with all of my other decks.

But I've had a lovely, lovely week with it. It's so gorgeous, with a lot of sweet details in the cards. The book is a very good one, and I've learned a few things as well. For example, I pulled Fairy Bride yesterday, which replaces the traditional Lovers card. I read the description in the book, and it's described as a commitment, which can be to a person but also to a vocation, a passion, or even oneself. I had never looked at the Lovers card that way, honestly. I've always seen it as either a love relationship or some other sort of partnership. I like a deck that make me see another aspect of a card that I didn't consider before.

I might have to stick with this deck for another week! I'm not feeling that "itch" that I normally have by Thursday night! lol
