Can one actually improve intuition by exercises?

Practice is excercise and excercise is practice. It's the same animal for me.

I'm not the master in structured work. Well, I'd say I suck in it, to be honest. But I know how important is to do things which you should if you want to get somewhere. It's great to get anything which can help you to stretch the intuition. Especially, books or online articles. But on the other hand, you're reading Tarot already. So maybe would be good to give more time for a single reading? Like really being concentrated on the single card or the spread as a whole? There's plenty of possibilities. I'd say, you can excercise with things which you know already - just get them more structured or planned ahead.

I'm not into organised curses. I don't like to spend money on this when I can disappointed by the teacher or in general, whole group of people. I don't have much trust in it. You can always get a book or online resources and plan everything how you want. Just get into creative flow.

I will provide you a very simple answer.

I think that the only fact that you want to improve your intuition will lead to some improvements. Why? Because your sens will be more tuned with what is going on around you in your life (or during your tarot reading).

Also, there is no set ''recipe'' to improve one's intuition, I am assuming. As another poster said, every event/situation going on in your life is an exercise in itself to strengthen your intuition (who is calling, how will be the meeting with my boss, what is this person truly feeling?)

With all things in life, practice is necessary for skill development whether it's math or Tarot. :)

Sometimes we're born with a natural aptitude for certain skills, other times we aren't. For the things we are new to, we can always learn. That includes psychic ability and learning.

Meditation is great for more than just Tarot reading. It's a stress reducer that's physically and mentally therapeutic and helpful in all areas of life. Even if someone weren't a Tarot reader, I would recommend it anyway.

As far as Tarot reading goes, it's my experience that picking a deck and making a commitment to work with it helps tremendously.

I read a couple of days ago somewhere on the net that there are exercises to improve your intuition for bettering Tarot reading skills.

They mentioned exercises such as Full Moon meditation etc. What is this? Can someone please elaborate??

A full moon meditation is just that. meditating while the moon is full. Generally, people will go outside and sit (also generally barefoot) on the bare ground-so they can make a connection with the earth as well as be grounded. Allow the moon shine to shower upon you. Close your eyes and be still and mindful. That's it!

So many people believe the full moon has 'extra' powers that are intuitive and so if you meditate under the full moon--your body will absorb some of this special 'magic'.

I believe that it doesn't matter if the moon is up, or the sun, or if the moon is full or new or any state in between. You can develop and improve your intuition for anything-and especially tarot reading.

There is one book that I HIGHLY recommend you invest in for learning to use your intuition and develop it to a greater degree while reading tarot. It was done by two A.T.ers here--Melanie Howard and Nancy Antenucci, and is titled, "Psychic Tarot: Using Your Natural Psychic Abilities to Read the Cards". You can find this brand new on Amazon for about $15.00. It is very easy to read, understand and follow. It is truly a brilliant book for just this subject.

I would also recommend two of Debra Lynne Katz' books, one I think was already mentioned here in this thread. These two books are:

1. You Are Psychic
2. Extraordinary Psychic

Again, well written with exercises to do and also very inexpensive. If you wish to save even more money-you can find all 3 of these books second hand also on amazon for generally under $10.00. All three are must have in my opinion in any psychic development library! Do check them out!

And are there really such activities through which you can improve your intuition? Which are the other activities?

Thanks in advance..

Regards
Yes, there are also other activities you can do too--in fact, there are often many threads here on A.T. that you can participate in to help you to develop your abilities also. Look for them. Most are, of course, in the Divination Thread--but you'll also find them in the Reading Exchanges.

I also would highly recommend meditating and as was also mentioned here, practice, practice, practice!

It's not necessary to follow anyone's particular method. It is necessary to spend time alone. I think everyone has 'gut instincts', but very often don't listen. Learn to listen. You don't have to do Silva, or Sylvia, no need for journals, or anything. It's an art, and yes, it does take practice. But everyone has it, the issue is learning to recognize it. Be it tarot, sticks or stones. Learn how to tune out, listen to that still small voice. There's no quick recipe to go about it, no crib notes.

That is quite some information to process.. Thank you so much for the details. Just like Grizabella and many others said, I to believe in practice, practice and practice. And that's what I have been doing until now!

However I saw this mention about intuition increasing exercises and moon meditation and it had me stumped. During the course of search about it I chanced upon this video of pathworking which even JadePixie has mentioned here...

Thanks celticnoodle for the links to the books.

As of now I guess I would be concentrating solely on practicing. Maybe with time I would turn to these books. Have added them to my bucket list. But I guess I would purchase some more decks before these books ;) Thanks however for the guidance..

I wouldn't call myself the intuitive type but over the years I noticed that quiet "unfocused focus" helps, and I see here that many of you also found this "little way". I know that I need my stargazing, sunset and sunrise gazing, moon gazing, wild animal gazing, little children play in deep concentration gazing... I need all these things to have my inner focus.

I tend to have an evil little voice that denigrates me and tells me my ideas and insights and also my intuition are worthless. Only when validated by others, I take myself seriously. I know exactly where this little voice comes from (danke, Papa) and I learned and learn every day to give nice but firm answers to this voice until it fades away. It's important to have deep trust to the inner voice of intuition. Negative messages of any kind interfere with the flow.

I will read the Psychic Tarot book but I'm not sure that exercises from a book will be good for me. I'm so used to assignment and measurable success.... but that's not intuition. I see my intuition as "wild woman" somewhere deep within me. Beneath all the layers of learning, this wild woman within me is a core of wisdom.

(When I was a little girl, I had a vision of a wild girl, even had a name for her, and I understand now who she is and that she grows with me...)

Intuition is honouring the FIRST IMPRESSION...

The Intellect is the cause of OVERTHINKING...( thinking to ones self I don't want to be wrong on this)

THINKING is a tool of the intellect and is therefore always stuck in the past or future...using past events to project forward...

The problem is that we are taught to put logic and intellect first....any intellectual training is supporting that divide....

Killing the NEED TO BE RIGHT....is a positive step to honouring the intuitive process...

FAITH

TRUST

it's all there in the FOOLS card...RWS deck...

Aristotelian thinking V's Socrates understandings...

I loved the way you put it @re-pete-a.

And yes, Overthinking does kill intuition!!

Intuition

For me, the key to increasing my intuition is to surrender. Surrender my limited, ego centered, point of view. This surrender is not to a religion or person, but to the Source of our being.
