I bought my first deck (Hanson-Roberts) about two weeks ago and started looking at all the tarot sites I could find. When I saw pictures of the St. Petersburgh deck, I wanted to have it. I am half Russian and have always been interested in things Russian.
Last night I found them at a store in town and could not resist buying them. After I got home, I turned on my computer and started looking at the cards one by one. While the computer was warming up, I heard a little pop and the screen image collapsed into a vertical line in the middle of the screen and then went black.
I was laying them down right next to the monitor. This is the second time the monitor has gone bad, so I am not inclined to blame the cards, but I wonder!
I then took the cards and did a nine card circle spread just asking what the cards wanted to tell me. Nothing special. Just the same info I've been getting. Although my significantor in this deck is the Q of clubs (showed up first thing in the self position). I can relate to it better than the Q of swords in the Hanson-Roberts that kept turning up for me.

I like the look of this deck too. I'm being a Russian countess in a 'murder mystery party' soon, and I'd love to take this deck with me. Only my sister 'doesn't believe in Tarot cards' (ie disapproves of them) and it is her party so I won't.
Regards,
FH

I love this deck too. I am also half Russian and that was the initial attraction for me. I saw another poster somewhere who couldn't get past all the black... For me, that was one of the attractions. I love all the darkness. It seems mysterious to me. I love the fine attention to detail. It is a beautiful deck. I don't tend to use this one as much as my Art Nouveau deck. I seem to have bonded more with that one. I love all the stained glass look...

I also love the St. Petersburg and I can also recoomend the Egorov (gold edition) tarot deck. It is not in the same miniature looking style but looks more like those lacquer art black Russian boxes you can sometimes find.

Damnit, that's another one on my wishlist! Whilst I'm not keen on the artwork, this deck is calling out to me.. I don't know why, but it might be cuz of its unusual style... I don't have many decks of its kind either, so maybe this one will be good for my collection!?

You surely won't regret adding it to your wish list, my dear Kiama.

It is my favorite deck, and I am not Russian.
Turning your computer off and on, shortens the lifespan. Keep it on all the time, using a sleep mode or a screen saver. The new power saver modes are nice too. Helps make the computer and monitor last longer.

I love this deck too. It must take an incredible amount of patience to paint miniatures like that. I read that he used a brush with a single bristle on the smaller details.
Mine didn't come with the book but I ordered it later. It's definitely worth it, especially if you are interested in Russian history. It gives a great overview.

Hi all,
I love the Russian Tarot of St. Petersburgh but I admit that I use a magnifying glass to examine all the detail. It is just an amazing deck! Each card is so much fun to look at.
