questionaire to help select YOUR deck

I just found this site.
http://www.selectsmart.com/FREE/select.php3?client=tarot
It's a questionaire that tells you which decks would be right for you.
Of course my favorite decks are way down in the list :( but it's lots of fun. And it did list some I'm going to go check out. :)

My number one deck was the Alchemical Tarot ??? I don't know if I've ever really looked at it before?? And Robin Wood was down in the teens (shrug) Oh well they can't win 'em all. LOL

Check it out!!

P.S. I can't ever get the address right the first time around. LOL

faunabay  25 Nov 2001
OK I thought this was just a fun little website to play with.
But I've now looked at the Alchemical Tarot.....and I WANT this deck!!
Maybe this questionaire knows a thing or two. :) LOL

moon  25 Nov 2001
teehee! i just took the test and the #1 deck for me is the robin wood deck. ironically, i just ordered that deck last week. weird, yo.

blessings,
jess

jmd  25 Nov 2001
Thanks Faunabay...

The questionnaire didn't get mine accurately at all: it listed the Marseilles as 6th, and the 1jj as 5th... whereas the Rider-Waite was first...

The programmer must rank the R/W as more 'traditional' than either the Marseilles or 1JJ!!!

Anyway, I agree it's worth a look!

glamourbug  25 Nov 2001
i did this twice and both times i got the crowley thoth deck...hmmm not a deck i like at all. Further down the list were the decks i have or want.

Kaz  25 Nov 2001
#1 on the list came out "Cosmic Tribe", I looked it up here, and well, hmm, not for me.
#2 though, "Toth deck", I looked at all the links posted in another thread, that is a powerfull deck. It's on my wishlist now.
#3 was "Alchemical Tarot" , it's OK, but not something I would buy.

I don't like Rider Waite, that one came up in #14, and strange enough, Robin Wood, which I really like in last place, #24.
So, the selector is not 100% proof, but fun to do.

deso  25 Nov 2001
My number 1 was the Nigel Jackson ....... hummmm, I don't own or really know that one ..... will check it out. But it was pretty right on for most - and I own those LOL

deso  25 Nov 2001
Okay ........ just checked out the Nigel Jackson. It's nice but didn't overly excite me.
The deck that is really calling to me now is the Book of Doors.

truthsayer  25 Nov 2001
my #1 was listed as the nigel jackson deck. quite interesting b/c when i initially saw it close to a year ago i did not like it it at all. yet last week i decided i am going to purchase it b/c i've decided that i like it now. the renaissance and the cosmic tribe were mentioned also. i have been considering the renaissance but the cosmic tribe is out of the question. of course, i could change my mind later like i did with the nigel jackson. :p :) 8-)

Kiama  25 Nov 2001
Hee hee...

Funny funny ha ha. Apparantly, I need the New Palladini. It's no. 1!

No. 2, the Rohrig Tarot is on my wish list...

No. 8 is the Cosmic Tribe, one of my all-time faves...

And No.11 is ROBIN WOOD! MY ABSOLUTE FAVE! Hee hee...

Ah well.

raistlynne  25 Nov 2001
I found it fun to complete this questionnaire, but all of my favorites came out at the bottom, while the ones I like LEAST where at the top. RW deck has got to be the deck I find the least appealing, but it came out as #1.

It did get me to think about some other decks that I hadn't come across, so in away, it was still good... we just have to take it with a grain of salt, so to speak. :)

faunabay  25 Nov 2001
Well, I've gone back and played a bit with this and I think he only has those 25 decks to choose from. They're just listed depending on how you answer the questions.
I originally thought it drew from around 100 decks.
Oh well, it still was fun and I probably got a new deck out of it I never would have even looked at. :-D I encourage all to look and have fun!!

EveAnna  25 Nov 2001
Now that was interesting lol
1 1JJ Swiss Tarot
2 Tarot de Marseilles
3 Alchemical Tarot

But the Rider Waite (my favourite) only rated 7th. Strange thing is the 1JJ Swiss deck was the first deck I ever purchased and I do still like the artwork :)

jadecat  25 Nov 2001
This was fun, but..... my number one deck was the Morgan-Greer, which I don't care for at all. Think I will check out the Alchemical Tarot tho'. I did ask for the New Palladini for Christmas & it was #6 on my list. Thanks Faunabay for giving us the site! jadecat

Jewel  26 Nov 2001
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW ..... RW came first ~giggles~ ... I cannot believe this! Robin Wood, my all time favorite came in 23!!! ... flip flop those two and I would say that might be about right. My top six were:
1. RW
2. Universal Waite
3. Alchemical (will have to add to my collection :)
4. Morgan-Greer
5. Thoth
6. Ancestral Path

Thanks for sharing this!!! Too bad they do not have more decks! Wonder if we could design something like that for this sight with more decks .... hmmmmmmm ....

catlin  26 Nov 2001
I did this test as well and see what I got:

# 1 Morgan-Greer-Deck (I got it in my collection but I do no readings with it)

# 2 R/W deck (ok, I still use it for readings)

# 3 Universal Waite deck (ok, I still think about adding it to my collection)

My Sacred circle deck which I use a lot at the moment for readings for myself was ranked # 19!!!

marichan  26 Nov 2001
Hmmm, let's see....

# 1 New Palladini Tarot
Just bought this one and I like it *a lot* ;D

# 2 Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot
Nope - too disturbing.

# 3 Medieval Scapini
Not really my bag, baby.

# 4 Wheel of Change Tarot
Had never really looked into this one before, but now I'm curious...

# 5 Alchemical Tarot Tarot
Ugh!

# 6 Napo Tarot
Ye gods no! Too cutesy.

# 7 Ancestral Path Tarot
So-so

# 8 Halloween Tarot
Again, too cutesy...

# 9 Whimsical Tarot
See above...

# 10 Nigel Jackson Tarot
Love it, but it's got the whole sword=fire, wands=air problem...

Funny, these ended up towards the back of the pack...
# 16 Robin Wood Tarot
# 17 Morgan-Greer Tarot
# 20 Universal Waite Tarot

I think the programmer needs to tweak the code... ;)

Summerdream  07 Dec 2002
My #1 deck came out as Universal Waite. It is the first deck I learned tarot from but now I like getting different styles of decks.

Maan  07 Dec 2002
The new palladini came out first and i really really really don't like that deck!

And my favo little deck, the one i can not do without came at place 11 :(
My poor faithfull phantasmagoric theater tarot ;)

violinlily  07 Dec 2002
the quiz-thingy was fun,
****
All of the decks that I like either were at the bottom, or didn't show up at all (poor ancient egyptian :(). And the new Palladini shows up a lot at the top, and it's a pretty nice one. I got that too. The RWS and UW came up, and I said I didn't like them, and I don't like them still. tarot of the Marseilles was at the bottom :(
well, online quizzes and other similar items are almost never toally correct (that was confusing, lol)

Pollux  08 Dec 2002
#1 Rider-Waite Tarot - #2 Robin Wood Tarot - #3 Universal Waite Tarot
COULD BE - Ok here, I can identify with this, especially considering not all decks are taken and I am a picky unorthodox weasel with weird tastes...

#4 Morgan-Greer Tarot - #5 Cosmic Tribe - #6 New Palladini Tarot
COULD NOT BE - This is odd. Morgan Greer is not my fav, nor is Cosmic Tribe or Palladini (but Aquarian is). From the following I'd see here Rohrig, Thoth, Ancestral PAth and Nigel Jackson more...

#7 Alchemical Tarot Tarot - #8 Ancestral Path Tarot - #9 Crowley Thoth Tarot
COULD BE

#10 Napo Tarot - #11 Renaissance Tarot (Lyle-Jones) - #12 Medieval Scapini
COULD NOT BE - *LOL*

#13 Nigel Jackson Tarot - #14 Rohrig Tarot - #15 Whimsical Tarot - #16 Halloween Tarot - #17 Osho Zen Tarot
COULD BE - I would definitely replace this line to the second

#18 Wheel of Change Tarot - #19 Bosch Tarot - #20 Renaissance Tarot (Williams) - #21 Sacred Circle Tarot - #22 Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot - #23 I-JJ Swiss Tarot - #24 Tarot de Marseilles - #25 Voyager Tarot
COULD NOT BE - WHA?? *LOL* Expect for Bosch, and "Tarot De Marseille" that is too vague if they don't specify which edition and type - these are all OUT of my Fav List... Anyway, among them they are in correct order...

StargazerLily  08 Dec 2002
My #1 and #2 werre RW and Universal Waite! I guess that means I'm not very adventurous! The RW is the top of my list but only because I need a traditional one.

I don't trust that place, though, because I did a religion thing and it said I was a liberal christian or something and I am NOT a Christian AT ALL! Most of the questions didn't have answers that I would have chosen, though.

Candle Shadow  08 Dec 2002
Thanks faunabay for your post; my #1 is Rohrig which I hadn't heard of but I think I really like the images. I will definitely check out this deck.

Khatruman  09 Dec 2002
Seems like many people had backwards lists of favs. I wonder if tarot is trying to tell them something :P... However, with only 25 on the list, I don't think it is at all comprehensive, yet here is how I came out:

#1 Cosmic Tribe Tarot
Total surprise for me since I have avoided this deck. It's wildness intrigues me but I cannot get past the male nudity in this deck. It is funny that I chose NO on the gay/lesbian question and said that was a strong issue, yet this deck, which I see as having a clear homosexual undercurrent, was chosen #1... may have to rethink. Just looked again, and soon as I see the Fool, with his hairy belly and dangling penis jutting out, I just recoil.

#2 Osho Zen Tarot
This IS my favorite deck, and one I always get wonderful messages from, right on the money here! If you take out Co Tri, it's numero UNO!

#3 Universal Waite Tarot
Have just been using this for my novel-in-a-month, and it has been helpful, and given my more of an appreciation for the Waite deck.

#4 Crowley Thoth Tarot
Have always liked Thoth, but haven't used it, I guess, for the fact that the deck I have is the HUGE deck that is just too daunting to shuffle, but now I think I am reconsidering its use. Something is drawing me to it.. I am getting messages from the universe.

#5 Rider-Waite Tarot
See above on Universal.. I like that better

#6 Rohrig Tarot
I really liked this as soon as I bought it, but haven't used it.. think I will.

#7 Alchemical Tarot Tarot
Hmmm, not familiar with, but worth a look.

#8 Morgan-Greer Tarot
Interesting, though doesn't resonate.

#9 Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot
Unappealing and wonders how this got high on my list, though I expressed disinterest in cartoonish tarot

#10 Renaissance Tarot (Lyle-Jones)
This one is quite interesting for when I am in a Shakespearean mode... worth a look

#11 Voyager Tarot
Now, here is one I find appealing... have been considering beginning a photo collage deck myself, if I ever find the time. That is the only way I can be artistic *(can't draw my way out of a paper box) I am more the writer type, but I would get this to be a mentor deck in my endeavor.

#12 Ancestral Path Tarot
Hmmm, now this is appealing..worth further look

#13 New Palladini Tarot
I see some interest here..

#14 Sacred Circle Tarot
One of my favs, but difficult for me to read with for some odd reason..though Celtic is appealing to me, and this should be higher on my list

#15 Wheel of Change Tarot
Nahh, no appeal here

#16 Renaissance Tarot (Williams)
whoops, got my renaissances mixed up... *L*.. like both, but the williams one I find more appealing

#17 I-JJ Swiss Tarot
No appeal here, one of the early ones I have had, and it gathers dust.

#18 Medieval Scapini
Don't like, they called this one well. Colors way too muted.

#19 Tarot de Marseilles
traditional..I have a Marseilles and not fond of it

#20 Bosch Tarot
Intriguing and worth further study. I like the artwork

#21 Nigel Jackson Tarot
Nope..next

#22 Halloween Tarot
I hear people rave about this one.. but it does nothing for me. I think of all the cheap sugary candy that gave me stomach aches when I was a kid

#23 Napo Tarot
Yuck

#24 Whimsical Tarot
Name says it.. too whimsical

#25 Robin Wood Tarot
Another deck I hear raves about but doesn't appeal to me

So, in a lot of ways, this exercise worked.. with the exception of Cosmic Tribe needing to be lower and Sacred Circle higher. Again, like others said, more decks used for this quiz might make it something that would work better.

Peace!

lawguy51  09 Dec 2002
Hmmm, I already own 3 of the first 5 that were listed for me. Rider-Waite, Universal Waite and Morgan Greer (well, technically, I don't get Morgan Greer until I empty my Christmas stocking!). What a yawn, am I ever playing it safe! The other two were Alchemical and Wheel of Change. My favourite wasn't even listed. Victoria Regina. OK, I'm going over to the deck section to check out Alchemical....

I thought the same thing you did, but I was reccomended decks that you didn't get on your list, and vice versa. I think they list 25 decks for each person, but they have more than 25 in their database. (probably 30 or so ;) )

juice  12 Dec 2002
They have exactly 25 in this database. If you don't tick off any changes, you get the list of 25 in the default Alphabetical order. That default is why Alchemical comes up near the top so often. It would be a better list if it only gave you answers based off of stuff you actually made a preferrence over. If you check off eastern influence, Osho Zen pops to the top. If you check off memorize traditional meanings IJJ, Marsailles, RWS, and Universal Waite pop up to the top in alphabetical order.

The programmer er list designer needed to more carefully pick the questions and what happens to the alphabetical default from each question.

I can't help wonder if this list was an email harvesting scheme.
