Well since we just did the "favorite" and "least favorite" decks how about we post the decks we wish we had!

For me it would have to be the Amber Tarot ... perhaps that will be my Yule present to myself.

Other decks I would like to own include: Celtic Tarot (Julian De Burgh), Jasniak Tarot, Steele Wizzard, Amano, and Osho-Zen to name a few ;)

Bright Blessings,

Kalin  19 Nov 2001
The deck I'd most like to have is out of print--called either the Jung or Jungian deck.

Next on my wish list is the Ukiyoe.

At the moment the decks at the top of my wish list would have to be
The herbal tarot
the fantastical tarot
the gendron tarot,

Would also love the merryday tarot and the celtic dragon tarot.

Oh all this wishing is not good for my morale lol. Anyone else get that dreamy look when reading this post? *sigh* if only money grew on trees.

Bright Blessings,

Hi All,

The problem is I have been buying the decks on my wish list. I was a bad girl and bought the Osho-Zen last time I went into the Magic Miror her in CT. Then went straight to the fabric store for special material for a bag for it.

Like Jewel though, the Steele Wizzard is on the list (hopefully I will get it as a present - even told Hubby where he can order it).

Keep the wish list going..

Kaz  20 Nov 2001

'Lo all,

How 'bout the Aeclectic Tarot?

I was given a card to create, and am wildly excited about this project.

I have the same problem cj does. I seem to buy the decks on my wishlist ??? Just recently I've ordered the Book of Doors Divination set and the Spiral tarot. :)

But the ones on my christmas list I've given to everyone :P are:
MerryDay tarot and book set
Faeries Oracle
Inner Child tarot

And the one I've been thinking about lately is the Gill tarot.

Kiama  20 Nov 2001

Erotic Tarot
Buckland Romani Tarot

Pagan Tarot 2000
Merryday Tarot

PHEW! That's it! For now... I'm sure I'll see more I like when I go to Glastonbury again in Febrauary. (They have one shop that is basically just Tarot decks. Needless to say I loved that shop so much that I nearly cried when I had to leave.)

So many decks, so little money, time to earn that money, and space to store new decks. But who gives a damn? NOT ME! *Kiama grins and carries on dreaming about all the decks she's gonna have one day.*

GONNA GET ME THE BIGGEST TAROT DECK COLLECTION IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!

I have the herbal tarot and it is a RW clone but each card has the herbs on it. If you like the RW you will like this deck a lot and a depth to what you know by adding herbal correspondences to the cards and gaining knowledge in herbal lore.

~Giggles~ like most of you I also over-indulge in getting Tarot decks off my wish list. Currently I have the Ananda and Wicca Tarot on the way from the Tarot Garden ~grins~ ... Hopefully they will come on Friday or Saturday.

I soooo agree with whomever said "I wish money grew on trees" ~giggles~ ... if it did I would try to secure a copy of every Tarot deck ever made *LOL*.

I also would love a copy of the Jungian Tarot, too bad it is out of print ~sighs~. All the decks you guys have listed are wonderdful ....

May all of our Tarot Dreams come true ...

jema  21 Nov 2001

Actually, the Herbal tarot is one of my favorite decks. It sticks to the traditional RW symbolism, but the artwork is more appealing, the colors softer, the meanings not so darn negative, etc. I don't know, I just really mesh with this deck. And the fact that it combines with the herbs has great appeal to me.

The book that come with the deck is wonderful. The affirmations are great, and the suggested uses for the herbs are very helpful. Highly recommended :)

Blessings,
Jess

Folie Yolen  21 Nov 2001
I have Haindl(and its two books) which I'm thinking of trading, Art Nouveau(the Antonella Castelli deck), and Whimsical deck.

The only decks I really want are not even finished/published!

I want the actual Clamp X Tarot, not the taiwanese bootleg.. When it's finished, which will be years in the future, I'd think.. Oo Gaaah..
And I want the Nijinsky Tarot! Daaaamn, I love that deck! Finish and publish it soon, sir!

Hmm.. Well, there are probably more I want but those are on the top of my list.. ^^

Two more to add to my wish list which I just stumbled across and realised I wanted...

Morgan Greer
Spiral Tarot

Kiama

truthsayer  22 Nov 2001
#1 is the hoi polloi deck b/c it's the deck i learned on but lost thru moving over the years. i've seen copies on ebay but am yet to win a bid. well, i did win a bid for it once but only received half the deck. i returned it and got my money back. since it was sealed the vender didn't realize the deck was incomplete.

next at the top of my list is the hallowquest deck by caitlin and john matthews. then there's the celtic deck by julian de burgh. i also want a copy of the pagan 2000 deck. i really like the look of the mary-el but unfortunately, it's not published yet. the daughters of the moon and miracle deck are 2 more possibilities. i like clamp x but the bootleg copies i've seen on ebay seem full of mistakes. i'm considering the nigel jackson but i'm not certain that this is my style of deck.

i pretty satisfied with the collection i currently have so i'm not collecting as actively as a few monthes ago. i want to spend some time working with what i have to gain more perspective on the style of deck i work with best.

Kiama  23 Nov 2001
What's the Hoi Polloi deck like? What art style is it in?

Kiama

jmd  24 Nov 2001
I've had a long think... there are so many more I would like...

But the two top ones on my list must be:

1) our own about to be realised Aeclectic (or whatever other name we give it, F.A.C.T., &c); and

2) the earlier deck with, incredibly, a similar name, the Eclectic!

Thruthsayer I believe I saw this deck at the Tarot Garden (www.tarotgarden.com) ... it is next on my list thought I might pass this on! If you order it please let me know or I will let you know if I order it that way will both know that it is out! ... Also if you find the Celtic Tarot let me know where. Thanks!

the hoi polloi came out around 1975 and is no longer in print. it was like the rws with vivid colors. to my knowledge it's not listed at aeclectic and any web searches for it have only brought up decks from e-bay. i only want it for sentimental reasons b/c i learned tarot on it.

Thanks for this Princess! :* Major Tom's Tarot is the only deck I could describe myself as greedy for. }>

Of course I want the First Aeclectic Collaborative Tarot too! :D

I suspect the F.A.C. Tarot will be finished first. (sigh) :D

Talisman  27 Nov 2001
'Lo all,

Kiama, truthsayer is right. The Hoi Polloi was actually the last deck to copy the design of the Smith-Rider-Waite deck before 1971 when U.S. Games acquired the copyright.

So, it will never be reprinted and is rather rare. It is may be the very best S-R-W clone, so as a collector, if one swims within your ken, grab it. It may be a tad expensive, but you collectors have your priorities, right?

Also, people are always talking about which of these clone decks are prettiest -- Universal, Hanson Roberts, Golden, etc. -- and I always look (or re-look) 'em up online. For some reason, I never seen any mention of a clone I think is rather nice, the Illuminated Tarot.

I guess there are two different versions of the Illuminated, but that's a problem for you collectors.

IF I were a collector, I'd treat myself to Kaplan's encyclopedias. I can imagine spending hours and hours looking through those.

What is sad, is that getting other decks didn't even cross my mind until I started coming here! I'm a broke college student! But I tend to get books instead of decks...but anyway here goes.

What I have:
Shapeshifter
Buckland Romani
Zerner-Farber
Thoth

What I want:
Wheel of Change
Art-Nouveau
Robi Wood
Cosmic
Osho Zen

And ya'll named more that I haven't heard of that I'm looking into now...thanks for the reccomendations.
