Hi everyone! I've been into tarot for about three years, but I've only gotten serious about it now. I have been on the lookout for "my" deck, but I've never been able to find it. I've tried the Stone Tarot, Art Nouveau (castelli), secret, thoth (somewhat intimidating to me), rws, robin wood, and basic, but I've never been able to really find the right fit. Does anyone have any suggestions? Out of the bunch STone is my favorite. I'm looking for something that isn't too dark, nor too sweet. I don't really go for digital images, overly ethnic decks, or rws clones. Any suggestions?

Have you tried some of the review sites ? www.wicce.com is excellent. Trying to say what packs are suitable is very difficult. We are all individuals, and even sometimes we even like 'unsuitable' packs. However, if you can post some more clues as to what you are looking for, I'm sure we could assist you. Good luck !

Hi! Oh, believe me, I've gone to almost EVERY review site on the web. Seriously. It's getting kind of hopeless. The problem is precisely that I don't have a clear idea of what I'm looking for--I'm sort of hoping that I'll have some kind of "click" when I find the deck. :)

I'll support Solandia... take a good and long and slow look through
If you like a more traditional deck... I'll put my personal preference forward: have a look at the deck

I first started with rider waite then i got the Morgan Greer progressed to the ancient Italian dec and Thoth dec then i got the angel cards and the fairy cards given to me ... Phew !!!
They all have a life of there own and all when used come up with the correct information ... Sometimes gobsmacks me off my perch !

Hi lilmystic,
I find myself wondering what it is you don't like about the decks you have, or that you want from them but aren't getting?
Do you want to do readings or use the cards for meditation and in what way don't your current decks work for that?
There is so much choice it can be really hard to choose, and some decks that look great online just don't work 'in the flesh' and vice versa. I hope you find a deck you really like soon.
All the best,
FH

My personal recommendation is the Osho Zen Tarot. There are keywords on the cards and I think the artwork is fabulous...not too fluffy, not too dark.
Peace,

If you have not had a chance to check out Melvis' recommendation (the Osho Zen) I highly recommend you give it a look. Although it is not a traditional tarot deck it is fabuouls ... and I am one of those people who prefers traditional decks, but absolutly love this deck.
If you can give us more of an insight into the elements that are important in a Tarot deck for you, and those that really bother you perhaps we can help you out further.
Have you thought about creating your own deck? perhaps this would be a great solution for you! There is a blank tarot deck, the Inspirational Tarot I believe it is called, you could use to create your own. You could trace and color your favorite images, make a collage, shoot anything you like! Just a thought :)

Hi everyone, you've been great so far with all your help! I actually HAVE started to create a deck, but I think my problem with most decks is that I often wish that there was more "stuff" in the pictures. That's where I run into trouble with Thoth--I know that it's one of the best, but I'm a bit intimidated by so MUCH stuff, so you could say I'm looking for something in between. I'm part intuitive reader...
I'm a Sagittarius, but I think my rising sign is Libra. I don't share many of the Sagittarian qualities. Does that help? Thanks!

Yes this helps a lot and congrats on the deck you are creating :). I like "stuff" too ~giggles~, now lets see what kind of stuff do you like? If you were to find the perfect deck which of the following "stuff" would it include:
1) Astrology
2) Qabalah
3) Pagan Symbolism
4) Strength/Justice arrangement (8/11 or 11/8)
5) Swords/Wands correspondence (air/fire or fire/air)
6) colors (bright/pale/in between)
7) Traditional or non-traditional deck (does it matter?)
As for your intuitive side I would say again, take a look at the Osho-Zen :) Sorry I keep asking you questions but narrowing it down will help us all help you find that special deck you know is waiting for you :)

Hi all--I checked out the Osho Zen and it's gorgeous, but I tend to go for stuff closer to the traditional framework (suits, for instance). I don't click too well with the Qabbalistic stuff in the tarot, or the astrology because I'm never really able to relate to it well (which is too bad). In terms of "stuff", I think I mean images that have enough to think about; non minimalist but not pointlessly ornate. That narrows it down a bit. :) Thanks again!

Too bad the Osho-Zen did not work out! It does have suits though, and I have found that they compare well to the traditional ones the images are just have a different approach to the message. But enough about that. Have you checked out the Herbal Tarot or the Alchemical Tarots? They are more traditional.

Take a look at the Cosmic Tarot by Norbert Losche. The imagery is detailed, hand drawn, and is of high quality. Its not a theme deck, which makes it suitable for everyday readings. Its not overdone with nudity, and the drawings are not cartoonish in quality. There's a review and images at http://www.tarotpassages.com/cosmic.htm.
