Hey folks...
I got 3 or 4 decks of Egyptian tarots...2 of them are quite difficult to learn how to use...
The Major Arcana is alright...all the 22 cards are the regular ones ...but, the Minor Arcana...hummm...it simply goes from the number 23 to 78...no suits, no Court cards, etc...and the images are of egyptian traditional motives...but, sometimes, they simply cannot inspire me some good reading...
The most I could get from books is that...I can group the Minor arcana into four groups of cards, which would symbolize the four suits in the regular decks...now I donīt remember the correct grouping...
Well, and I simply adore the Ancient Egyptian culture...must have been Egyptian in another encarnation....
Does anybody own a deck like that???...
Got any suggestions???
I got some ideas...and some books...but, maybe you people got some better suggestion...
How should I proceed???
LOVE,PEACE AND HARMONY TO YOU ALL !!!!!!!!

Ramses,
I have the Book of Doors and love it. It's not a traditional tarot deck - more of an oracle. But it works really well for me - very deep. I'd suggest checking that one out.

For an excellent article on Egyptian themed Tarot decks, see Mark Filipas' page on "A History of Egyptian Tarot Decks":
http://www.spiritone.com/~filipas/Masquerade/Reviews/historye.html
This article features examples from 25 different Egyptian decks!
Two of my favorite Egyptian themed decks are the Ancient Egyptian Tarot by Clive Barker, and the Ibis Tarot by Josef Machynka. The Ancient Egyptian Tarot is hard to find, but is supposed to be reprinted later this year.

I have the Egyptian Tarots by Lo Scarabeo. Does anyone know who the major arcana represent? For example, the Judgment card seems to have Anubis leading somebody. Who is it? ??? I'm wondering about the Strength, Temperance and Sun cards, too.

Strange2 (12 Feb, 2002 20:58):
Two of my favorite Egyptian themed decks are the Ancient Egyptian Tarot by Clive Barker.
Unless we have very different decks, I believe it's Clive Barrett who created the Ancient E. T. And it is a marvelous deck in all respects. Great illustrations, good symbolic choices, lovely colors. And the book that comes with it is one of the best reads. It's got great insights into the cards, and it's better than most books for learning about Egyptian mythology. I love this deck and I've had wonderful readings with it--very clear, solid readings. Very strong.

You are correct, Thirteen. It's Clive *BARRET* who did the Ancient Egyptian Tarot, not Clive *BARKER*. My mistake.
Clive Barker is famous for his horror movies like "Hellraiser" and "Candyman", and horror novels like "The Hellbound Heart" and "Books of Blood". I don't think Clive Barker ever made a tarot deck, but if he did it would no doubt be intense!
