Does anyone else here work with the Faery Wicca Tarot, and do you have any helpful advice? I love the artwork and style of the deck, but I seem to have problems getting it to work for me -- especially in contrast to my new Rohrig Tarot, which works like a charm. Any tips, advice, or war stories?
In the same vein, can anyone recommend good decks with Celtic themes and artwork, especially ones with Princesses instead of Pages? And does anyone else work with the Rohrig deck? I'd love to talk with people about it.
Thanks,
Kelly

One of my favorite Celtic decks has princessess and princes instead of knights and pages.
The Celtic Tarot by DeBurgh
I love this deck. Luckily I found one in my local tarot shop I could flip through, because the scans on the internet just don't do the artwork justice. They are beautiful!!!
And the book is great too!

The Celtic Tarot by DeBurgh has nice, soft illustrations that are mostly reminiscent of Rider-Waite poses. The book has a few paragraphs for each card that describe, "The Story of the Card," which tells a little about the legend that inspired the card's illustration. If you know Celtic mythology already, it shouldn't be too hard to associate certain cards with certain legends.
The Celtic Wisdom deck is very cool, and has a great book that accompanies it, but not everyone likes how the cards have been renamed. The Major Arcana and the four suits all have different names...rather disconcerting, but the artwork is very primal and really gets you into the "Celtic" spirit.
I also have the Rohrig deck, but I have not done a lot of work with it (too many decks, too little time!) Do you have the book that goes with it? I just got it and haven't looked at it very closely. I just love looking at the cards...there's so many hidden little words and symbols in them!
Don't have the Faery Wicca deck...yet! ;)
Peace,
Melvis

Merry Meet and Bright Blessings,
Fairy Wiccan is on my wish list.
For Celtic decks I can recommend the Legend: Arthurian by Anne-Marie Fergueson or the Arthurian (Hollowquest) Tarot by Caitlin Matthews. Both have gorgeous artwork and offer you a balance between male and female court cards.

I would reiterate the recommendation by Faunabay and Melvis for the Celtic Tarot by DeBrugh, and second the vote for the Legends Arthurian deck.
Another deck not mentioned yet is the Sacred Circle, which focuses on Celtic Paganism. The deck can be tricky to work with and I have not reallly worked with it but got it for that reason. But it is a little different ovearall and I am not sure how the court cards are listed ... been a while since I flipped through it.
Good luck on your search!

I have the Legend Arthurian deck too and love it. But I didn't suggest it because it doesn't have Princessess. It has Knights and Pages. But one cool thing about it is the pages are animals. The Page of Swords is a snake. Page of cups is a salmon. etc.

I did not mention the Sacred Circle as it is computer generated and might not be to everyone's taste but I love it. It ranges among my two Arthurian decks which I only use for readings for myself. I could not stand these wonderful cards being abused by rough shuffling or sth like that.
It always gives me the creeps to see how some clients shuffle my RW :O

After some looking, I'm feeling very drawn to the DeBurgh Celtic deck that many have mentioned. I can't find a sample deck to look at, but I have a good feeling about this one.
For those who have it, what are the best things about it? Also, how sturdy are the cards?
I'm going to smudge my Faery Wicca deck, but it may never work for me. If anyone's had much luck with it, I'd love to know, but I've been hearing rather mixed things.
In a different vein, is there a Rohrig group? I haven't had a chance to explore the forum fully yet.
Thanks ever so much!
Kelly

Again, I have not had a chance to work with my Celtic deck by DeBurgh but have heard some really great things about it. What I can answer for you is about the quality of the deck in terms of card stock, etc. The deck is normal in size and the card stock is very good. This deck handles very easily. The colors are not too bright but are lively as are the characters depicted on them. The minors are pips with some activity on them which is beautiful and not cluttered, but helps understand the cards a better than just straight pips. Hope this helps.
Love & Light,
