Hi again!
What are your favourite "gentle" decks, the ones full of "sweetness and light" you use when you want to be handled with care or search for "comfort" ?
I think that the Vision Quest Tarot (Native American) might definitely be one of them. Other suggestions ?
Thanks very much, see this is sometimes difficult to get an idea of a complete deck even thru Aeclectic's pages and numerous pictures. I think my fellow human beings' experiences are just as valuable (if not more) as the impression I can get from a few pictures on the net.
Take care,
Kissa

Well, frankly, I never do want all sweetness and light lol, but I suppose the best would be theConnolly, not even a smidgen of negativity anywhere in it :O===

If you like Vision Quest, you could also try the Medicine Woman Tarot. Very, very gentle, I find it good for meditation or reading for myself when I'm feeling like need some comforting... However, it does not have traditional card titles (although on the majors it is written in small letters on the top..e.g., Vision = Hanged Man), so it takes a little getting used to. I don't use it to read for others though. I actually think that if the cards are too gentle, they're not really accurate in divination, since life is full of both "good" and "bad", yes? But that's just me, maybe others can get accurate readings. I imagine Connolly might work though, and Gill, while not gentle, is not as "scary" as some other decks may seem.

The deck I use when I want to be coddled is the hanson roberts. It's not all sweetness and light but it's pretty close. lol :D

I like the Whimisical Tarot, which was also created by Mary Hanson-Roberts. While the original fairy tales it's based on are not always sweetness and light, the nostalgia factor of looking at pictures of fairy tales usually gives me that 'warm fuzzy' feeling!
Peace,

As above the gentlest deck I have for nervous readees is the Connolly deck. The death card is called Transition. The Devil is called materialism and the 10 swords does not look in the least bit menacing.

There's a self-published deck which I found on the tarotpassages.com website. It's got really beautiful artwork. It's called the FaeTarot. It's a standard Tarot deck, but the disturbing Majors have been changed to be positive images. Death is changed to Night; the Devil is changed to Love(!); and the Tower is changed to the Tree. The characters are all angels and fairies. The artwork looked so striking, I couldn't resist ordering it, and now I'm waiting for it to arrive. It's also a pretty good deal for a self-published deck, $25 for the deck and $30 for the deck with a carved wooden box. Here's the website:

Lee,
I just found that deck today too! I really liked it. The $25 price for a self published is good. It's been put on my wishlist (along with the Blue Rose I might add!!! LOL)

Thank you all very much !
I appreciate very much that you answered to my question and gave me the names of your comfort decks. I added some lines to my "already too long deck-wishlist" !!!
Thanks again !
Take care and enjoy the winter wherever you are, even on a sunny beach (yeah, I know, life is hard sometimes ...)

If you like oracle cards as well as tarot, definitely check out Doreen Virtue's decks -- Healing with the Angels and Healing with the Fairies. There are no negative cards in these "because angels always speak from a place of love." I was skeptical at first, but I've found them to be highly accurate as well as beautiful and soothing. I'd recommend them to anyone.

You want us all to run with this? OK...
My first inclination was to say, "Robin Wood, what else?" But now that I think about it, the deck that makes me feel the most warm and fuzzy, and makes me break out in grins, is the Halloween. I know this deck seems silly and gimmicky to some of you'uns (can't...stop the...inner redneck, ack!), but, uh... pooey on you, 'cause it isn't. :p See, it brings out my inner child just to discuss it. :T6C :)

i have to second the doreen virtue vote...i love the healing angel cards!
this is the deck i turn to for gentle guidance and comfort. it's also great for querents who are intimidated by traditional tarot for whatever reasons, and on those rare occasions when i've read for children.
my decks are just like my good friends--some i turn to for answers, and some i turn to for a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. i don't generally want answers when i seek comfort, so my tarot deck is not my choice in those situations. it's my angel cards that gently listen.
also, my deck came with an extra guardian angel, so it's extra special to me...

Vision Quest for me too. It's a gentle deck but not too sugary, well not for me anyway.
I haven't got the Halloween yet but I really want it. I downloaded all the images and it's so much fun to discover the elements of the rider-waite (images of the rider-waite are in my memory and will never get out) in this deck and turned into soemthing halloween-esque.

Thats interesting... the Vision quest for me is very tell it like it is. I can't even use it to draw a card for someones birthday because it is too honest. lol
I would have to say mine is the Connolly (ugh I can never spell that right)
