Hey guys,
I'm going to buy one or two more decks this weekend and right now I'm stuck on three.
These are:
- Morgan Greer Tarot
- The Celtic Wisdom Tarot
- The World Spirit Tarot
Morgan Greer, I really like.. it's very RW-like, and that appeals to me.. I've grown to like the RW very much minus the colouring, which is why eventually I'm going to buy either the Universal Waite or the Original Waite. But since I already have a RW deck, I'm excluding it from this trip to make room for another deck.
Celtic Wisdom.. awesome art, love the Renewer card the most. I'm kind of intimidated about learning the new system that goes with this deck, and I've read one unfavourable review about how it's not a very good working deck.. opinions?? I'd be willing to learn, I just hope that I CAN learn it and use it regularly considering it will cost me $55.00 for the book and deck set.
World Spirit.. the only factor here that would help me to eliminate it is the card back. ARGH.. see more on that in my other thread.
This trip I want to buy two decks max, and maybe a video on reading tarot. That's kind of expensive though, so I'd prefer either two decks or one deck and a movie.
Help me narrow it down!
Thanks,
New2Tarot

new,
morgan-greer and celtic wisdom are both on my "favorite tarots" list (used to be "top ten favorite", then "top twelve", then "top twenty"...now, who knows?). anyway, i may be biased in telling you to go with those two. nevermind maybe, i AM being biased!
seriously, if you are actually New 2 Tarot, the morgan-greer will be beneficial to you. it's a great beginner deck, especially for learning to read for others. there are at least two books on tarot that use this deck for illustration ("tarot celebrations" and "intuitive tarot"), as well as the one that comes with the deck, if you buy the set. any RWS book will work w/ this deck, so i'd just get the deck. that would be more cost-effective. anyway.
then, you can get the celtic wisdom set. now there's a quality purchase...that deck is just plain beautiful! also, the correlation to standard tarot is not as distant as you might believe. a thorough study of the book is certainly necessary, but well worth it. it's a very subjective thing, as to whether you'll be able to read with these cards. some people do, others not--i think it's a matter of being drawn to the celtic theme, perhaps. if you plan on collecting, you'll want to hang on to it anyway. this one's what i call "a keeper".
to be fair, the world spirit deck is a decent, multi-cultural tarot that many here on the forum are connecting with quite well. i didn't personally connect with it, but if someone is looking for those qualities that i know this deck has, i would not hesitate to recommend it.
:)
there--now you know what to do. proceed with reckless abondon.
tell us how it goes...

Thanks metaz for your helpful comments!
I think (right now -- my mind seems to change every hour).. that I'll go with the Morgan Greer for sure.. to build a base on my RW experience so far, and to work with the books I use, and also get the Celtic Wisdom.. I have loved that deck for so long but never looked up on it. Did I mention the Renewer is my favourite card?? LOL! Aaah. I can study and learn its system, what the hell!
The World Spirit I also like, but not as much as the other two and I think it can wait til the next time. It'll give me something else unique and new to explore later on.

Hey Hey Hey ... before you go! ~pants hoping she made it in time~ I have an idea, buy the 3 decks and forget the video on reading the Tarot. If you want a video on it we can work out a trade if you would like, but I don't think you need it at all. Aeclectic will give you soooooooooo much more than any of those videos. Just my two cents, but if I were you I would get the 3 decks and forget the video. Like I said if you ever want to trade I have a video I would gladly trade for a deck.
As Taz said ... now you know what to do, proceed with reckless abandon and let us know how it goes ;P
