Hi
I was thinkiing has there ever been a deck for the blind? You could do a neat one with different textured papers and inks and braile print? What do ya think :) ?
Just a thought :)

I know there are braille playing cards 'cause I use to play cribbage with a blind friend. We used cards that had both printed text and braille code. Nice cards, good friend, classic cribbage matches!

That would add a very interesting new dimension to a deck, wouldn't it? I suppose it would be tricky to shuffle...
The cards could be quite thick and strong... you could get a silk (cotton, velvet - you choose...) bag with them and you could put the cards in the bag, shake 'em round, and pull them out one by one a bit like runes...

i don't know if i'm the person you were thinking about but i did a post months back about doing a deck specifically aimed at filling the needs of ppl w/ disabilities. one of my probs w/ current decks is the unreasonable amount of physical perfection in the cards. for example, why couldn't the high priestess be in a wheel chair? to me a deck in braille makes sense but i don't know if there is a marketable need for ppl who are visually impaired to have their own divination system. i think runes or other systems that could be used tactilely are more practical than cards but that doesn't rule out cards. my experience w/ most visually impaired persons (they prefer being called VIPs) is that they all don't know braille, many spent a part of their life sighted, many still have light perception and could still read cards w/ a magnifying glass or other technological assitive devices, some keep constant human companions that could assist w/ a reading, and there seems to be more VIPs as the the population ages.
i know this is more info than you want to know but i think it's a cool idea even for the sighted. have card images textured to lend a new depth of sensual perception.

interesting idea... how about an American Sign Language/ Braille deck. braille imprintts with a counterpart sign as the imagery.
this way, you get like 3 decks in one... standard and interesting tarot deck, a guide to divination by sign language and a new deck all at once.
i know there are braille typewriters out there... and with a set of blank cards with sign lanugage images pasted on them could be really neet!
if anyone does this, i'd like to know.
blessed be,
