Yes people - Miss Cleo is now selling a tarot deck.....at Walgreen's no less!! ROFLMAO
For those of you not in the USA, Walgreens is a discount drug store!
I found a reveiw on Tarot Passages and had to rush right out and get one. LOL Check it out:
http://www.tarotpassages.com/cleo-lb.htm
I thought we all needed a laugh about now. Although I have to say it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Definitely not a work of art, but not horrible either. LOL

Actually, the cards shown aren't half bad - looks like Miss Cleo buys into the Egyptian origins theory. :D
Looks like a 'must have' for the collector to me. }>

What we should do is get an "aeclectic" snail mail list. Someone buys the video, watches it, then mails it to the first person on the list (list included). 2nd person watches it and mails it to the next person, on and on till it comes back around to the one who bought it. That way, even folk overseas could get a gander at the wonder that is Miss Cleo.
Of course, the one draw-back is that it would cost a little more to mail it to those overseas than to those around the U.S., but hey, we could work something out. Maybe someone with post-office connections?

Hey guys,
You know.. the thing is, although Access Resources - the company for which Miss Cleo is a figurehead - is a multimillion dollar enterprise which conducts business in a less than honourable way through misleading viewers, Miss Cleo herself isn't at fault here. Everyone pokes fun and talks bad of her without a second thought.. but I actually respect her. I mean, imagine if YOU were scouted by a company looking to make use of your skills (because I think Miss Cleo is actually a gifted tarot reader herself... not the people that read from manuals for the hotline).. and then all of a sudden different companies and states are trying to sue that company and they throw YOUR name all over the papers in a negative connotation.
I mean, Miss Cleo is not at fault here - Access Resource, Ltd. is.. but whenever you read about this, it's "Miss Cleo" who is a sham. Well, no. I watched footage of her reading for radio DJs that hosted one of her infomercials.. Q100 in Atlanta I think it was. She is, if nothing more than a well-practiced regular tarot reader like any of you, very skilled at reading the Tarot and I think her talents are legit. I feel it's somewhat unfortunate how they've been somewhat exploited and her name tarnished in the process of the company becoming a cash cow... but I think it's unfair for everyone to always slam her instead of the company.
I believe her accent is authentic, she was born in Haiti, and just like any Jamaican person who came to the live in the Americas or from any other country.. she carried an accent.
Shamanism (?) is a religion.. those are her beliefs.. she probably DID grow up with the Tarot, and other practices.
Granted, most of her life was probably spent in America but I don't think she's a fake. Just an opinion I suppose.
As far as the four-door spread, I was glad to read about her deck and movie last week, because ever since I saw her spread I wanted to emulate it.
And since I saw it, I figured it out for myself and it's the spread I use most often... now I have a name for it ;)
This is how it works..
Shuffle the deck, then cut it into four piles from left to right.
(1) (2) (3) (4)
Flip the cards over vertically from left to right, and place them above the stacks. If you flip each card, they land on top of the stacks (represented by A,B,C,D)
(A) (B) (C) (D)
(1) (2) (3) (4)
Now, flip another card from each stack, and place it on top of the stack you flipped it from (represented by E,F,G,H)
(A) (B) (C) (D)
(E) (F) (G) (H)
You now have 8 cards in front of you in whatever orientation. Read the spread as a general story, no card positions apply. The spread is basically sequential as far as time goes from left to right, top row to bottom.. the way you'd read this paragraph is basically how you read this spread. so card A would be more present than card H.
To read further into the story or to get more information for your reading, depending on the question you may have to repeat this a couple times, move cards E, F, G, H up and place them on top of cards A, B, C, D. Flip a card from each stack on the bottom row again.
This is how the spread works, you can continue to read lines of cards until you gather enough information pertaining to the question.
Anyway, from the sounds of the review she does know how to read Tarot well if nothing else. However, the skeptics always say "What card suggest an elbow injury?" or something when they try to make her seem like a fake.. well the claim here is that she is also a PSYCHIC. She explained it in an interview I read that she uses the cards as a tool to help her apply what she receives through psychic means.
Personally, I believe some people have that gift.. I don't.

Haiti and Jamaica are two different countries with two different native languages (French and English), whose peoples speak English with two distinctly different accents—and it may surprise people to learn that an authentic Haitian accent is easier for American English speakers, at least, to understand than an authentic Jamaican accent! Miss Cleo's pseudo-Caribbean lilt is a total put-on. She slips up regularly in her commercials; in one of her earlier commercials she went on for almost a whole sentence in straight-up American before noticing her lapse and reverting to her shtick. I'm a white boy from Chicago, and I can do a better Jamaican accent than she does (must be all the reggae I listened to in college).
I have no idea whether she's a tarot charlatan, because I've never called her and never will, but she's definitely fakin' the Jamaican.

Kiama! With the internet, it's very possible for you to acquaint yourself with Miss Cleo!!
Miss Cleo's Website
Keep in mind it IS a business and they ARE trying to make money.
Click the purple "No Thanks" button to enter the site, and then click the blue "No Thanks" button.
To see the making of one of her latest infomercials filmed at Q100 Radio Station in Atlanta, to watch it, or to see her perform readings off-air for the radio hosts, click here:
Q100 Atlanta
If you watch the video files on that site, you will see Miss Cleo in action. Granted, she is the figurehead for a money-making cash cow of a company, but I think she is legit herself.

This most certainly isn't true.. granted, they probably auditioned tarot readers, but she isn't an actress. Not only do the legal papers you can find on the internet regarding her lawsuits clarify this, but she has said herself in interviews that she isn't an actress, and the courts have verified that she is in fact a practicing Shaman from the Haiti region. Just because people want to slander her name in lieu of the company doesn't mean it's right. The rumor that she's a paid actress is nothing more than rumor.

One of the issues pending is that she won't produce her birth certificate proving who she is.
Follow the leads below for more info than you care to know about "Miss Cleo"!!
Even more interesting is the information given by "psychic readers" and the scripts they follow - and the amount of time they must keep callers on the line in order to get more calls directed to them. Which isn't directly Miss Harris's fault, granted.
The first two are extensive, and all of the links have info on her and the practices of the PRN, as well as her 4 websites.
Actually, it's been quite educational. I'll be interested in seeing how all this pans out in the courts.

I bought one friday March 1. They were by the cash register, maybe look up there at your Walgreen's. I'm glad i got it, the video was amusing and the cards aren't bad. I noticed Miss Cleo flips her cards over top to bottom. Every book I've read says to flip them from the side but I guess Miss Cleo has her own way of doing things.

LOL.. no thanks..
but is it a problem flipping bottom over top??? That's how I've always done it.
But I did call the Walgreens nearest me earlier this afternoon and the girl said they had it, but when I asked how much she asked another girl who said it was recalled. Then she came back on the phone and said "Sorry, they recalled them.. Miss Cleo didn't do something right."

i saw a deck of the miss cleo cards at a walgreens and had planned to buy it b/c i liked the sample cards i saw. however, when i saw the box with her featured so prominently i felt so turned off i couldn't buy it. it just seems sacriligious to tarot to commercialize something i love so much like that. i just couldn't spend $20 for that deck when there are so MANY DECKS i'm dying to own! but if walgreens is indeed pulling it from the shelves, i'll prob start feeling like i have to have now. <<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ann7822,
I really wish I could click on those sites - but they aren't links, just the addresses. I'll have to write them all down & visit them later.
As for Miss Cleo, it is true that a Haitian accent is VERY different than a Jamaican one. Hers is definitely fake, esp. if she wasn't even born in Jamaica. She might not be a paid "actress," per se, but a paid "spokesperson," but once she started faking an accent, she became an actress (one who acts) in my opinion.
I realize that she isn't at fault for what the company who hired her does, but I think as a reader (or anything) I would have thoroughly checked out any company who wanted to use MY name to identify itself.
She may very well be a talented psychic. I can't judge that since I've never gotten a reading from her. But from what I've seen on the commercials, the type of "advice" she gives to people is awful! Full of the most petty, soap-opera garbage: "yes, dat man cheatin' on you," etc. Not exactly helping people reach their higest good - in fact, probably starting fights and all kind of other white-trash drama in already-confused people's lives.
Nothing I have seen or heard about Miss Cleo inspires any respect from me. Sorry to be so harsh, but tarot readers already have a "shady" rep, and she's making it worse.
Thanks for letting me rant,
DeLani
P.S: I have the right to say "white trash," since, in fact, I am white trash. I live in a trailer and everything. :)

Sorry, but i love mis cleo... I love how funny she is... And i think she was the one who got me hooked on tarot. I saw he and i was like i want a readin now, but since i was to young to call i decided to do it myself.. And here i am today. But i don't agree with how she is being used. And if i was her i would leave that company right away and start my own... One that is very cheap like lets say FREE i mean a free tarot reading outline... that would surely change things don't ya think... but alas it will never happen.

I think this is true. Britney is used as a commodity, so is ms cleo. The difference is that ms Cleo is going down as a sacrificial lamb and Britney is not. Granted they are both easy to laugh at, but I actually feel for Cleo. Ms Cleo is an employee of the network as the spokesperson and what that means to me is that she is the figurehead, for good or for bad. Especially after following some of the links here, I think the news is doing a smear campaign on her because it is exciting and trashy press. Part of this, I believe, comes from a "Burn the witch!" mentality that on a certain level scares me (as a witch).
My opinon of the deck: Well thought out but kind of ugly.
I will admit it, I am a tarot geek, and as soon as I saw the ad featuring the deck I ran out and got myself a copy at Walgreens. I am so glad I did it right away now!
The illustrations seem almost unfinished like sketches rather than completed drawings. The color scheme seems rather unthought out to me. The Egyptian angle is kind of cheesy. Honestly my favorite part is the box the cards came in. A nice big picture of ms Cleo on the cover. Perfect. Shooting stars. How much campier could it be? Big ol' beturbaned ms cleo. Her name real big. I've put my regular deck in the Cleo box because I love pulling it out for people, everyone laughs. Everyone knows ms.Cleo. I'm glad I spent the money, even though I will never read for anyone with this deck.
Iv'e watch her infomercials on videotape to see if it all rang true and I enjoyed watching the instructional tape. I think she does know her tarot but unfortunately her 15 minutes are almost up.
You know the next step in the exciting saga of ms Cleo already, don't you? The people who run the psychic network will dissassociate from ms cleo because of all the negative press, change the name of the company (again) and start a new scam network with another spokesperson.
Parting advice from her LWB: And always remember what ms Cleo says," Dem cards don't lie!

I have a friend that is a reader for the Cleo hotline. I dont know about any of the other readers but I know that he is legit and just does it cause he says it pays pretty well for that kind of thing.
Im sure that most of it is faked and scripted, but there are probably more real readers who are into it for rent money.

You might want to look at this information on Court TV,
http://www.courttv.com/news/feature/cleo/031402_birthcert_ctv.html
According to information posted March 4th, she was not even born in the Caribbean, but in a Los Angeles County hospital on Aug. 13, 1962. While she may have been used by the company she can not have been unaware of what was going on and therein lies the problem for me. All of the people that believed in her and called in only to get someone reading directing from a script or a book without any training or abilities.
