Definately the Fool - I think he (sometimes she...) is fantastic! The Knight of Cups is pretty important to me as well as it is my signifcator usually...

Justice, it's my alltime favorite card.
And I also check out what the 10 of swords look like
Temperance is one of my favorite cards in my current deck (Secret Tarots)

As art, I like quite a few of the more modern Death cards, especially the gothic-looking ones. The 3 of Wands in some decks is also beautiful, but I think the Empress is just gorgeous.
Of course, some decks Ihave are basically 78 stunning pieces of artwork, such as the Celtic Dragon, Shapeshifter, and Osho Zen. The Osho Zen especially I just want to pin up somewhere on my walls!

Ohhhhhh what a tought question *LOL*. For me it really varies with the deck ~shrugs~. For example the Cosmic Tribe's 4 of Disks is a favorite, but I really dislike that card in most decks. Some decks have a few beautiful cards others, like Kiama mentioned, render each card a work of art in and of itself.

I agree with Liliana, about her having to like the High Priestess card. Me, I have to find all the female cards non-insulting! I like strong, positive female cards. I doubt that I could ever bring myself to own or read that Priapro tarot lol!
The card that always draws me for it's beauty and art is the STAR card. I have read in many books that it corresponds with the zodiac sign of Aquarius - it certainly draws this water bearer to it! :)

Oh yeah, the High Priestess. She's sexy, in some weird, dark way. ;-) Seems to be an archetype I'm irresistably drawn to, and surely there's that anima thing going on. As a matter of fact, when I set out to do my own majors (of which 11 are finished) the High Priestess was the first one. I think I'm in love with her!
The Star and Temperance hold great appeal for me , too, as does The Spiral deck's Wheel of Fortune.
But oh, that priestess! Yowsuh!

I was looking through my Manara dck the other night and found four cards which I would love to have on my wall.
The 4 of Air/Swords: A young woman is sitting on a giant unrolled roll of film, with nothing on but a pair of unlaced army boots which are too big for her. Se has a parasol over her right shoulder, and she is looking up into the sky, as if pretending to be a Victorian lady. You can't see anything even though she's naked, cuz the way she is sitting, and her arms, cover everything. I just think this card is hilarious!
Then there's Temperence: A beautiful, white veiled woman is swiging on a swing covered in white flowers. She looks very carefree and inncocent. Clinging to one of her nipples is a typical Victorian Englishman, along with black London-style umbrlla. Its very funny.
The World. Oh, just look at it. I can't explain it!
Judgement: We see a beautiful green, misty morning in a lush garden. In the middle of this garden is a small hillock. On this hillock lies the limp, but very beautiful body of a woman, naked. From her vagina, a stream of pure white doves fly into the sky.... Its very symbolic, and beautiful when you look at it, although at first its a bit strange!

I like the tower cards. Each one is so vibrant. The content in each of the cards is not lost. like some decks don't even look like they would have the same meaning.
I love the dark colors and the different architecture of the tower cards.

Is it bad etiquette to dredge up dead threads around here? Let me know...
I put a fair amount of importance on how good a deck's Queen of Swords is; that's "my card." But I'm weird, I kinda like Swords period, whereas for most people it is the Yucky Suit. A good Queen of Swords should feel balanced in terms of positivity and negativity, dark and light, whatever. If she is portrayed as ice cold with no good points (decision-making, healthy boundaries, left-brainedness), that's bad, but also it doesn't make any sense to pretend that she isn't at least somewhat forbidding, distant, and pained.

When purely looking at the artwork of a card then I have to go for 'Existence' in the Osho-Zen deck. When looking at the cards, their meaning, and well; the best favored card in readings my pick is the Ace of Cups.

Greetings all.
I just absolutely love the Ace of Swords! I discovered this after buying the Thoth. The AS here is the most beautiful I've seen so far. Then I started exploring my other decks, and I love the AS in all of them. The Hierophant in the Thoth is also one of my favourites, but not in all decks.

I definitely hope it's not bad netiquette to bring up an old thread, Qolus - if you hadn't I would have missed out on this one...!! I also agree with you on the Queen of Swords, that is my card too! - My favourite QSw: Buckland Romani Tarot. Beautiful card, beutiful woman, she has warmth about her, but her eyes are cold, sharp and don't miss a thing!
The ones I look for when checking out a deck are:
The Fool.
Death.
The Devil.
The Star.
3 of Swords (odd one?).
8 of Wands.
5 of pentacles.
7 of cups.
And the one I HAVE to like in order to like the whole deck is Temperance. Maybe that makes Temperance my favourite? Oh, I don't know... They all have their identities and individual beauty! (All but the World Spirit Tarot Sun - I can't stand that card, even if I understand what the artist was trying to say with it... I am sorry, but I just don't like that one...! But that was out of the thread's theme, now wasn't it... I'll shut up now.)
Light,
Jenny :)

The Spiral has so many beautiful cards but if I could have some blow up to poster size I would include :-
Temperance, The Empress, The Sun, The Moon, Strength, The Emperor, The Queen of Cups :)
