Hi
I have the Tarots of the Golden Dawn and it is a very lovely deck. They have ?rereleased? this deck under a new name as the Enchanted Tarot also published by Lo Scarabeo. I am wondering if anyone knows if they changed this deck at all when they rereleased it or if it is the same exact deck with a new name and packaging. Everything I have seen says that it is based on the first version but the artworks looks the same from the samples. I have been debating buying this deck but don't want to open it up and find out it is exactly the same.
Thanks
Sam

Dolphingirl i could kiss you!
I think they are the same deck. I saw this deck under the tarots of the golden dawn but couldnt find it anywhere to buy it. Now i know it is under a different name and im going off to see if i can find it. It looks to be exactly the same but i couldnt swear it is identical.
Im soooooo excited.

What are you guys talking about? Isn't the Enchanted Deck by Lo Scarabeo a fantasy type deck? The Golden Dawn deck is more traditional. Robert Wang created one with the aid of Israel Regardie, and the Ciceros did another. Are you talking about a different deck?

You responded before I did...
There are two decks with the name Enchanted Tarot. The one through Aeclectic, published by St Martins Press, is viewable here. The Enchanted Tarot published by LoScarabeo is viewable on their website.
Neither have similarities to either the Wang nor Cicero Golden Dawn decks.

Hi
the decks I am talking about are the TAROTS OF THE GOLDEN DAWN by Los Scarabeo http://www.tarotpassages.com/golden.htm
and the ENCHANTED tarot by Los Scarabeo
http://www.loscarabeo.com/catalogo/files/Enchanted.htm
These decks are the two decks I am refering to. I am hoping someone can let me know if they changed the deck at all with the reprint and new name.. Everything I can find says that the enchanted one is based on the Tarots of the Golden dawn.
Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this.

I stand corrected.
The deck you mentioned called Tarots of the Golden Dawn is, in my view, certainly misappropriating the name...

i also have the tarot of the golden dawn from Lo Scarabeo. i think it is a new version. the major arcana are the same but the minor are a bit different and the back are in color (instead of a brown one) but they have the same picture. that's what i think when i see the pictures of the enchanted tarot.
hopes this helpes you?!

I finally got around to checking out what everyone here was talking about. Now I have another deck to add to my wishlist! :) Thanks alot! Like I don't have enough on my list as it is! ROFL
jmd, from what I just read they are not referring to the Order of the Golden Dawn at all. In one of the reviews it says something about the name referring to a golden dawn (morning) time of day. But that misunderstanding may be exactly why the name was changed. Although if that were the reason why did they chose another name that could be confusing - Enchanted????? Oh well I still want it!

Ok it was driving me nuts so I wnt out and bought the Enchanted so I now have them both. The Enchanted backs are in color where the Tarots of the Golden Dawn is in brown and white. In the tarots version the pips are just the number of the items for example 5 cups and there was a small drawing on the 4's of each suite only. the Enchanted deck has cute characters on each pip as well as the unmber of the items and the 4's are also different from each deck. Also the Enchanted version is wider than the TGD so more of the lovely paintings are shown. I am happy to say that there are enough differences that I am happy to have both. :)

Dolphin Girl, you are still here, this is an old thread - but do you still have these two decks?
Does the earlier version ("Golden Dawn") have a different Chariot?

I also have both decks (not realizing when I got the Enchanted that it was a reprint of Tarots of the Golden Dawn).
And yes, indeed, the Chariot is the only Major to have been completely re-drawn.
Another change: on the "GD" deck, each of the 4s has a small character depicted with the suit symbols (none of the other pips has this); in the Enchanted, this figure is completely different, and _all_ of the the pips have some kind of figure along with the suit symbols.

are the Golden Dawn or the Alba Dorato (Incanti) 78 card decks the one with the brown backs in the Tarotpassages.com link that DolphinGirl originally posted?
I'm 99 percent certain the Alba Dorato (Incanti) Italian version that I've ordered has brown backs, the old Chariot and the pips Asher wrote about with only the Aces and Fours having some kind of unique element in addition to the somewhat decorative pips...that's my hope.
Thanks!

My appology on not getting back you you sooner :) There really are quite a few changes between the different versions. Definitely enough to make it worth while owning both!
