Greetings.
Opinions on this deck? I think it looks really gorgous (well, dark blue is my favourite colour...)! :)
I want to order this deck, but it doesn't look like amazon in England has it. I've sent them a mail asking about it. Hopefully they are able to get it in stock.

I have this deck and I do think it is pretty, but it is not one I use. There are mixed feelings about this deck. I have seen several people here at the forums that really love the deck, others that do not like it because of its "Barbie and Ken" look. All of the poeple are very attractive, and apprently each suit tells the story of a different couple. I do not feel strongly for or against this deck, just simply have others that I prefer to use. But as I said there are several people here with experience with the deck and really like and recommend it.

On March 15 I was ordering the Robin Wood deck from Amazon.com, and saw the Art Nouveau deck listed. I ordered it as a replacement for a deck that I recieved from my mother when I was a teenager, and which is printed on really cheap card stock (circa 1970 or ?) . Later I went to the decks on this site to see the Goddess deck and I realized I ordered a whole new deck! The deck I have is the Aquarian Tarot (it's not handy just now) - so I'm really curious to find out what this deck has to show me after such a strangely fated acquisition. I use Thoth and many others interchangeably, but it's been over three years since I bought a new deck. I'm really excited about the three I ordered- Art N. + Robin Wood + the Gendron deck. I'll post as soon as I can get my little paws on them!
BTW: hope Amazon in England can oblidge you- if not , is there any way I could order it forwarded to you? I'm fairly new to the .com world, so I don't quite see why this wouldn't work. The A. N. deck was $12.00 U.S. plus ship and H. (In book shops here they all retail closer to 20 dollars)

I just got the Art Noveau recently, and it is gorgeous. I haven't worked with it enough to be sure if I'm going to gel with it, but there's so much I like about it. The storylines Myers has created for the Minor Arcana actually work quite well, in my opinion, and have definitely helped me to learn the cards. Oh, and this deck shuffles wonderfully.
Do let us know what you think!

Thanks for the positive review on the Art Nouveau deck...isn't it odd how shuffling is a completely differnt experience with each deck? When you say it "shuffles beautifully" do you mean it is thick card stock and glossy, or something more esoteric?
Also, what size are the cards? I'm used to the oversized decks like the Thoth, the Enchanted Tarot, and the Merlin Tarot, but I couldn't tell from the pix.
Intriguing question... shuffling styles and different decks.
I shall need to read more on this site, I'm spending more and more time on these threads, and less and less on mundane life. *sigh* Lucky to have the time to do this, yes?

i love this deck. it has a gentle romantic theme and the colors aren't too pastel or dark. i use it and/or the vision quest for ppl who need a beauty and compassion when reality is difficult for the querent to deal with.

I have the deck as well.
I agree that it shuffles beautifully.
It's not one of those oversized decks. It's "slender" and thin. The back of the card is well designed so that it can be reversed.
I wish there's an accompanying book..

It's nice, glossy card stock, but it's something more than that. The cards are on the small side, as silvereye said, and very portable. I think it's just a great deck.

i've never had a problem reading this deck even tho it lacks a book. once i got the idea from the LWB how each of the suits follow a certain theme then things fell into place for me. the story behind the illustrations seem so clear to me. this deck has even helped me gain a better idea of reading the sequence of events in the suits in the rws. even tho i've used a form of the rws many years, sometimes i'll just draw a complete blank. the ANT helps me w/ those blanks. the pictures are easier for me to remember as sequences of events. this doesn't mean what works for me will work for anyone else but just a suggestion. i have a feeling that any book based on the ANT will read like soap opera digest. ;)

I'm pretty much a novice tarot reader but I've been interested in Tarot for a long time. I picked up this deck many years ago in a new age book/herbs store and I have never regretted it. Being a "new" reader, I find that I like the personalized feel these cards have. I think the people represented in the suits give it a personality that many of the other decks don't have. I find some of the other decks too symbolized and not human enough. The artwork is absolutely beautiful and the cards have a positive energy about them.

For some reason I have only been able to find small and/or low-quality images of this one online, but it looks really nice. If anyone knows of some nice big pics of it or feels like scanning a few, I'd be really grateful...

Ok, I am one of those who do not love this deck so much because of its "Ken and Barbie"- Style although truthsayer told me a few things about this deck which made me think it over again.
I want try it out for relationship readings and maybe I'll bring it to my tarot circle the next time for discussion.

I like the look of the deck, and haven't read with it yet (got it about two weeks ago). I'm from the UK and just ordered it from amazon.com - took under two weeks to arrive. For whatever reason amazon.co.uk don't do it.
I wonder if it would be particularly good for relationship spreads? I understand the issues people may have with the people being just too good to be true, yet I would have no hesitation in showing this deck to anyone as it is just so non-threatening.

Aerin, a lot of people use the deck pretty exclusively for relationship readings. I use it for pretty much everything, but I do think it's especially useful in this regard.
Truthsayer -- Soap Opera Digest!! LOL!!

Thanks Kellinator. I shall keep an open mind and try it on other things as well. I don't really like pigeonholing decks, it just struck me that this was a themed deck in more than just the artistic sense.

"it just struck me that this was a themed deck in more than just the artistic sense."
Actually Aerin, I proudly showed a friend of mine my AN last week and she thought it was "too romantic." So you're not alone!
I think my favorite thing about the deck is the storylines in the Minor Arcana. It really makes me feel like I know the characters.

Oh great, thanks a lot, now I HAVE to get it! If it weren't for the suit storylines of the minors in the Mythic, I'd still be checking my LWB 4 or 5 times during a reading for myself... and for some reason the lessons have carried over to other decks. Another must have, I guess (sigh)

I have this deck and had seen it around a couple of times before I bought it. Unfortunately, I had only seen the Majors which (at the time) I liked but was quite disappointed with the Minors.
I can see how they read well (I remember doing some good readings with them), but for me, they didn't go much further; there didn't feel much more in the way of scope. I also found the stained glass art much more basic than that of the sophisticated Majors.
What else didn't I like? Sorry if I am knocking your fave deck. I didn't like the size (was too small) and just generally found it to be a little dated in style.
On the good side? - love the Tower and Star card; one of my fave Tower cards. I can imagine that in terms of relationship questions, I think that this is a good one.
Best wishes

I have this deck. I bought it because I thought it was pretty - I still do, the colours are gorgeous and some of the majors are absolutely lovely. I never learnt to read with it though, I have other decks I find much better for reading so I'm afraid it will remain just a pretty face for me.
