I just found this deck! It just says coming soon....it doesn't say how soon, or when at all.
But all I can say is "IT'S MINE!" LOL Everyone can look only if you remember "IT'S MINE, MINE I TELL YOU!" hehehehehehe
The artwork is kind of dark - almost eerie - and it's based on the moon phases and pagan holidays. Each card has a moon phase (Strength is the Full Moon in Gemini) or holiday (The Lovers is Beltaine). The author says this deck is "For people who like their tarot dark and serious." wwwwooooooo :)
Check it out

That's another one for my wish-list! I really like this deck! The artwork is stunning, and its not just all pretty pictures either. I like the way all the times of the year are corresponding to the cards.... It gives a whole new take on their meanings!
Not quite sure why the Magician is the Moon in Cancer though....?

Well Jewel your bank account will have time to save up some money! :) I emailed the artist to ask when it might be done and she told me at least a year!!!! Oh No - patience is definitely not one of my best attributes! LOL But she's still got most of the minor arcana to do!! So what's on the site right now is all she has done. :(

That would be a great 'collectors' deck for my (growing...) collection. Don't know if I could realte to it enough to use it... I love the Fool and the Emperor! The cards are indeed, powerful...

This deck is so attractive!
I really like the artwork!
My favourite ones are the the Fool too, and that Hierophant is marvellous, even though I fail to catch the association... And those Ace of Cups and Pents, WOW!!!
And I could even claim to have a "dark" Tarot Deck, right? ;)

???
Full Moon in Virgo = High Priestess...
Full Moon in Scorpio = THE EMPRESS!!!
(I can't associate such position of the Moon to such a giving, creative, extravagant woman...)
AND, have you looked at the Season/Suit/Element association?
For example:
THE SEASON OF AUTUMN
THE ELEMENT OF FIRE
ACE OF SWORDS
Don't know... :(
However, the artwork is just marvellous! :P

I agree the artwork for this deck is stunning, but I would have trouble living with this deck. My humble opinion is that the artist's choice of associating yearly events with the cards is a very good one, but also a very personal one. Many of them don't make sense to me...I mean how is the Full Moon in Leo not Strength? How is it the Chariot? Call me an opinionated so-and-so but it looks like a collectors' deck rather than a deck to use. })

Well I emailed the artist since she was nice enough to respond to my previous question on the release date and asked about the Magician in Cancer as I couldn't understand that one.
Here's what she said.....
"My idea behind the Magician is that of the "birth of the Magi" return of the sunlight theme. First off I don't see the magician as Mercury, for me it is the sun of increasing light. It is pure male/yang energy moving into the external world and pulling away from the female/yin energy or the great Mother/womb/void. This corresponds beautifully the full moon in Cancer which is the first full moon AFTER the Winter Solstice (the cross-quarter day which marks the day that sunlight begins to increase again). Most solar deities are born at midwinter. One of the god/goddesses I have found who is known as a magician was the mother goddess Isis, mother of Horus (known as the Morning Sun). I find the symbolism of the magician as mother and child to fit nicely as there is no greater magic than the birth of the child, within the mother's body the elements are mixed and a human being is brought out of seemingly thin air. MAGIC!"
Well.....huh??? I guess I sort of see what she's trying to get across but I'm not sure I agree. Of course it is HER deck though. LOL
I still love the artwork enough to buy it when it's released even if I don't agree with all her choices though. :)

That's the wonderful thing about making your own deck - you can express the meanings however you see them :)

Well, I agree on that, Kayne, and I even comprehend the artist's vision... but I don't really see why to call that a Tarot Deck, after all... Couldn't it be simply considered a Divination Set, an Oracle or whatever? :)
What I mean is, it is just wonderful, the artwork is great, and the author (does it exist authress? Just wondering) seems to be into it - she's got a marvellous perspective, with original views and an immense knowledge of myth, paganism and Tarots...
I believe her vision is so intersting, and I'd be absolutely delighted to study it, but isn't this too much a personal one, after all?
This is a sort of provocation: I do want to know what you think about this! :p
