Wouldn't it be great to have polls about decks?
To put for example two or more decks in competition...

I'll have the first poll now, a generic one: Best Rider-Waite Clone.
I have kept to a restrained notion of clones (for example, I have not inserted some like hanson roberts that I would have instead...)

it may be a matter of semantics, but...
i tend to divide these various decks between the rider-waite VERSIONS, which are those that maintain pamela coleman-smith's own art, but in numerous colorful manifestations (i.e., albano, diamond, universal waite, etc.).
of those, i like the original rider-waite--the one with the floral blue-on-white card-backs.
the CLONES, to me, are the decks that utilize the rider-waite symbolism with another artist's style, rendering, and even a new perspective (i.e., morgan-greer, robin wood, hanson-roberts, etc.). of those, i like the morgan-greer the best.

I don't have any of these decks. I don't even have a Rider Waite! I didn't really like it very much....am I missing out on something here or do I just have different tastes with my Tarot of the Spirit and Haindl and Goddess Deck and etc.

I don't actually own a Rider-wait clone but have quite a few books that relate to it... I voted for the one I would most like to own...
This poll thing is so cool!!! (You made me laugh Pollux - I pictured the decks actually having a death match World Wrestling style... :D )

jmd, you arer fairly right... but I admitted beforehand that obviously notions of clones could vary.
Actually, to me Spiral and Morgan Greer, for example, are "inspired", but I can't think of them as clones or versions, using your terms :)
However, I think we could have some enlarging... I'll ask the Moderator to include some more ( I also wanted, I told you, to include MOrgan-Greer, Hanson-Roberts, but that almost meant to include them all!!! :) I know they were inspired by R-W, but I don't think of them as clones really...).
I'll see what we can do about this... :)

heh... clone wars... sounds like the tarot version of what i hope to be the last installment of the star wars saga.
i had to vote other as well... actually, i don't many of the rider waite clones. instead i prefer the really out there or more postmodern decks in nature... like the VERTIGO and The Phantasmorganic theater Decks...
or the darker ones like the hp lovecraft deck, which i would love to have a copy of but i cannot remember for the life of me if the dude who created it is selling them yet.
anyhoo... the idea of a weekly DEATHMATCH poll sounds like fun... pitting two decks next to each other and seeing which one comes out on top...

Make that three of us! I like the Spiral a lot, and use it guite frequently. However, I voted for the Universal R/W, as I use that one much of the time, too.

Pollux mentioned above that I was fairly right... but I was not responsible for the list...
After some thinking, and though I agree that the Morgan Greer, Spiral and Hanson-Roberts are part of the Rider-Waite/Colman-Smith 'family', I decided that it may be fairer to leave the list as is... there is always the 'other' option.
This way, the votes already posted will be a true reflection of the choices (some may otherwise wish to alter their vote).
and please be patient with me... I'm only just finding my way through various other, new or changed features on this wonderful and updated forum.

My fav adaptions of the R/W are the Robin Wood and the Hudes deck.
I like the Hudes deck because the colours are soft (ok, some might find it solemn) as a lot of marbled paper is used (don't know how this paper is called in English :( Although I usually prefer vivid colours I sometimes need such a softer one to rest my eyes on it.

New palladini! what can i say?! it was my first deck, and it is original, not a clone! it is soooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than the rider-waite(socks rider-waite; 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10! New Palladini wins!)

What is all the conversation about the Spiral Tarot? Is there something wrong with it? I thought the pictures online looked nice so I put it on my wish list under trades in the US. Hope I did a good thing...?

Well, this thread was quite HISTORY... Maybe I'll have to throw the idea again, and put up an Enhanced version... I just don't want to use too much space for this "let's have fun" things, and now i feel so guilty cos I feel like SPAMMING actually... (I am not doing this to increase my number of posts, but only to put off other people making this thread live on! *lol*)
