Hi! I received the Celtic Tarot by Lo Scarabeo today after seeing a few cards on Joan Bunning's website which looked appealing. After taking a look at all the cards I see I can not work with this deck. I wish I would of seen more of the other weird ones first. I have posted an ad in the trade section if anyone is interested in this deck.
How many of you have had that feeling with a deck? A complete let down and not liking it at all?

I am having a similar exprience! I bought a deck today that I thoght I would really like (Enochian Tarot)...But opened the package, and knew instantly that it was not for me. The art is really beautiful, but I knew right away, that this deck and I were destined to part. This deck is up for trade too. Check out the trading forum if you are interested!

Oh, did you mean THAT special Celtic deck from LoScarabeo on which 2 different artists worked on? I got it also in a trade and was pretty disappointed by it. To me it looked like a horror scenario with all that bloodshed on it.

LOL! Yes that's it. It's funny on all the websites that show reviews none of those cards are shown....I'm not into the horror looking ones either so I'd trade for practically anything that appeals to me at this point.

And to think I avoided this deck as it looked too pretty pretty and cutesy from all the pictures I saw! I was looking for Celtic type decks and instead found this one: the Celtic Wisdom Tarot (Caitlin Matthews, again).
As one reviewer pointed out, some of the pics seem to have been cropped for the cards, but I don't care. I like this deck very much.

i have the celtic wisdom and like it very much. however, keep in mind that this deck is far from traditional rws symbolism. i can't interpret a reading w/o the book. this doesn't bother me but the book is so excellent. each card is connected to a celtic myth but the myth, the picture and the definition don't always work together well. the cards are quite thick and difficult to shuffle. i lay them all out in 7 rows a few times and this seems to shuffle them pretty well. i LOVE the art. it's not smooth art like the rohrig but it's not childish like the hanson roberts. the colors are wonderful. if you keep these things in mind then you won't be too disappointed in this deck. lee does an excellent review of it on tarot passages if you want to see a more thorough opinion.
i have found that many lo scarabeo decks tend to be loaded w/ testosterone. i don't always like how women are depicted. the art is generally very good but the decks aren't very readable in my experience.
