Tarot Garden Contest

Hi all, Have you been taking part to the contest on Tarot Garden pages http://www.tarotgarden.com/ ? It is a funny one IMO where, because we are in April, "Month of the Fools", you get to identify the Fool card of 25 different decks to win a reduction coupon. I am not advertising the site, I was just curious to know if someone has been able to identify all the cards : I know some of you are compulsive collectors with more decks on their shelves than I would ever dream of ... I think I recognised two or three pics :( only. Anyway, have fun ! Kissa PS: I am not even sure I can mention a commercial site like Tarot Garden here, not even sure the thread is in the right forum, I trust the moderators jmd and lee to delete this if out of line :)

Well, I tried it, but could only name about 7 out of the 26! (I was clever and got the pattern though, so now I know what each deck begins with!) But they are really obscure decks! Kiama

Not me... IMO the whole idea is a bit silly, but then again; thats probably because I tend to take Tarot a little bit more serious then that. This could stimulate the 'how many decks do you know' and although I don't see anything bad in that I do think its silly.

Wow! I think I knew 4 of them, but I may have been wrong on one.... that was really fun! Does anyone know which deck the fool card on the front page graphic (4th one down) is from? It's part of the graphic that announces the contest, not a card in the actual contest. I'd love to see the rest of that deck. It looks gorgeous! *sigh* And I told myself I was done buying new decks for a while...... Rhiannon :)

I think Rhiannon means the fourth card in the "set of four" graphic on the front page, not the graphic on the competition page - the one with the black border? Don't know the deck, but it looks interesting. Wasn't Jeannette (from Tarot Garden) lurking on the forum - she'll be able to enlighten us!

Right, I've got all of them! (I stayed up all night trying to find each Fool card in various reviews of decks, and finally managed to pinpoint every single one! And, cuz I got the pattern, I pinpointed the mystery deck too! I've sent my form in, and I'm going for second/third place. I don't want first cuz that Marvel deck is horrible. Second/third means you get to choose ANY deck from Tarot Garden's stock... (Fingers crossed) I'm so happy! (But tired!) Kiama

Yes, Luned. That's exactly what I meant. It's got all the really bright reds and blues in it.... Kiama, if you DO win 1st place I'd be happy to take the Marvel deck off your hands just for the novelty of it. I LOVE the Xmen! Rhiannon :)

I'm glad you're enjoying our contest! It's been quite popular so far and we've actually already received a few 100% correct entries, so we'll be adding additional prizes for anyone who still wants to enter. (And I don't think Solandia minds you mentioning us- you'll see us mentioned in the Support Aeclectic Tarot information section, and links to us at the top of several reviews) Also, I really can't give out any clues, but a lot of people have found our database very helpful for figuring out some of the more unusual tarots. I worked on the contest all day saturday and even had my boyfriend help and i only got 24 of the 25 decks :( number 8 is driving me nuts! Now I have a new quest , can't wait till i either figure it out or they tel me. Samantha

Hi again, I guess I missed a few of your questions/comments the first time around...yes, Jeannette and I are members, but you can also email us directly if you ever have any questions. I think the deck you're asking about on the homepage may be the Engel by Hanslian (more scans available in our database) and the first prize (already won, although we're still in the process of making the announcement) was the lovely Murciano from Spain, not a Marvel (although we do have Marvels available) And finally, we do take tarot very seriously!!!! Our contest was not in any way intended to trivialize it, but it was an opportunity to compare the different ways that artists from around the world have portrayed the Fool card..so while I certainly understand the comment that it seemed to be one of those "how many decks do you know/have" thing (and really, what's so wrong with that?), we hoped that everyone, even non-collectors, could enjoy it. ha! i think i take the prize for _fewest_ recognized! i spotted #15 and breathed a huge sigh of relief... thank god i didn't score a big fat zero! :D
