I am in the mood to expand my tarot collection, and am not really sure which deck to purchase. I have narrowed it doen to three, but am unsure about which one to get. Any thoughts you can give on these decks is appreciated.
The decks are:
Haindl Tarot
Tarot of the Ages
Ibis Tarot
Thanks guys!!!

Hi, Phoenix --
Judging from general opinion, reviews, etc., I would say the Haindl wins as the most interesting and most respected of the three you mention.
You might want to look at as many scans of these decks as you can find, if you haven't already, and see which appeals to you most visually.

Well I prefer the Haindl deck as well from what is on your list. It is derived from the Thoth deck, but with a less Qabalistic approach.
You haven't mentioned whether you have physically seen these decks. If not I'd advise you to do so and spend a little time leafing through each deck. You'll decide then which one you prefer.
Best of luck and let us all know which deck you chose.

Yes...I would have to say the Haindl also. Although, it should be stated that I am unfamilliar with the other two decks. The Haindl tarot is really a rewarding, mystical but strange deck. It is one of my very favorite decks, but it took me a long while to really embrace it. I must say, that while I viewed tons of scans of this deck before I actually purchased it, I was not prepared when I first opened this deck. It looks VERY different in person. I remember thinking to myself, this has to be the ugliest and most disturbing deck I've ever seen. And yet there was something about it. I kept looking at it....Kept studying. The more I engaged this deck, the more it gave to me. After awhile, it became my favorite. It is still the deck I use for all meditations and readings on "serious" matters. It has become truly beautiful in my eyes. Fair warning though, this deck has a darker, more serious personality than most decks out there. It is very honest, and never glosses over the hard knocks of life. Readings will leave you very introspective.

After carefully thinking it out, I think I will go with the Haindl Tarot. I will probably go with the deck and book set.

I would get Tarot of the Ages. Well , it's the only deck of the 3 that I actually own! I haven't used it for readings, but just looking at the pictures is worth owning it. Especially if you like different cultures.

I think that when I get enough money, I might just get both decks, the Haindl, and the Tarot of the ages.

I'll encourage you to go with the Haindl Deck.
This deck is great and very deep. The minors do not have pips though and the court cards are based on 4 different civilisations depending upon the suit and their relevance to the elements of air, fire, water, earth.
The majors also contain hebrew glyphs and runes as well as the appropriate astrological glyph. So these cards offer the reader a lot of information as well as the opportunity to lead yours studies into other areas if you so desire.
I definetly recommend the card and book set. The book is written by Rachel Pollack and besides having detailed explanations of each card is based on her popular book "78 Degrees of Wisdom"
Keep us posted with what you have decided.

Problem is, are the Hebrew, I-Ching, Runic and astrological correlations made on the Haindl 'correct'? They are certainly there, and can be useful... but the associations are in no way universally accepted as the correct ones.
Just another consideration to keep in mind... which should definitely not prevent you from obtaining this deck!
