I was at a Beltane ritual this weekend, and a girl there was proudly showing her new Ancestral Path tarot. It was her very first deck, and she was excited about it.
From the little I saw of it, I found it very intriguing and quite beautiful. I looked it up here at aeclectic, but didn't get a ton of info on it.
Does anyone here have it? What do you think of it?
I'm very tempted to buy yet another deck..... LOL

I want this one too. If you like this one, check out the Tarot of the Ages here at Aeclectic. That one is amazing too!

I have this deck and love it! I would totally recomend this deck to anyone. I wouldn't consider my small collection complete without it. The art is excellent. The cards are rich and beautiful. It has a wonderful vibe. Very feminine, nurturing and powerful.

I had this deck but i gave it away 'cause i couldn't read with it.
Its beautiful and her vision of the hanged man is the best i have ever come accros.
But the different cultures mixed in the suits did't work for me.
I'm hoping that i can work with here new Maat tarot!!!! Its just as beautiful as the Ancestral Path.

i have the ancestral deck and have given plenty of readings with it.
despite the diverse culturs depicted and that i really don't know very much about native american cultur for example - i found that the cards could speak to me.
the ancestral path is one of those decks that gave me several "aha" experiences. just take the 3 of swords.
it is always depicted as heartache and unrequited love etc. here we see it in a much more positive, but still harsh, way.
a young man is leaving his home and his family and all his toys behind to find his own path. this is a vital step to development, yet it hurts to leave those you love - and to let someone you love go away.
i am also fascinated by the judgment card. the fluidity and dreamlike quality of it.
i think the sacred circles/pentacles are the suit hardest to dechiffer. they are very pretty but will take some time to understand fully.

I got this one but traded it.
I have re-ordered it twice: one for Kiama and another copy for me again. My collection looked somehow "naked" without this deck. I also got the Tarot of the Ages but I prefer the "Ancestral Path" .

This deck is very beautiful. I would not trade mine for the world. I admit that I have not tried to read with it (an experience waiting for the right moment), but it appears quite straightforward to me. I love the varied cultures depicted, which is the reason I got it in the first place. Tarot of the Ages is also nice, but personally I like the artwork of the Tarot of the Ancestral Path better. If I had to choose between the 2 (which thank Goddess I do not) I would choose the Ancestral Path.

Both the ancestral path and tarot of the ages are on my wishlist, but I haven't gotten either yet. There's always that one other deck I have to get first. :) The artwork on both is very interesting, but I have to agree that the ancestral path is more striking.

I got it 2 years ago & had some trouble reading with it, but found the BOOK at a second hand shop & that helped immeasurably! Get the book with it if you can, it does help with the various suits & the expanded meanings per card. That little booklet is very slim on information.
You'll need it with the swords especially--very few of us have any kind of historical knowledge about Chinese/Japanese background. You miss most of the meaning without the knowledge on that suit.
The Hanged Man sort of threw me for a loop.....other decks have used the same idea of a fetus. I'm not sure how I feel about that image.
Oh, one extra bonus--this deck has a timeline that you can use for each of the cards. The artist/author intend each card to represent a date or days, so the entire deck takes you through the entire year (most cards have a 4 to 6 day span). The book has the entire list in the back. If you need to do a timed reading, this is one deck that can give you dates narrowed down to specifics.
