Cagliostro tarot

Hello. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the Cagliostro tarot, and what they think of it? It's the first deck I started with, and I still use it as my number one choice. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I have ordered it and still waiting for it to arrive.

Why is it your number one choice? How do you find it differs from other decks apart from the actual artwork on the cards themselves.

There is something basic yet intuitively intriguing about it.

where can we see pictures of this deck?

I'm interested too to hear what others think...

FYI, the Cagliostro deck was discussed in a previous thread, which you can read by clicking here:

I also have the Cagliostro deck, and was attracted by the Egyptian-themed artwork on the Majors. The Minors are straight pips, no illustrations, and almost seem like they are from a different deck.

thanks for adding the links.
i had a look at the scans of the cards, i can only say i don't like the art, and i don't mind pips. no, it's not for me.

I find this one, from what I have seen of it, to be a very interesting deck... I'm not quite sure why I find it interesting... Its kind of an odd blend, really... The Minors look very detached from the Majors...

But, I've decided.... I want this deck! :D

My Cagliostro has arrived!

The LWB is actually quite comprehensive. It is regular size but of 67 pages. There is a page which explains which cards are assigned to certain zodiacs within the minors then it goes on to explain those minors and the relationships to the zodiac. At the end of the LWB gives the usual Celtic spread with a sample raeding in it.

The Majors do not have the traditional Roman Numeral at the top but rather in a small box at the lower right hand corner each card's position is designated as 0/(22) for the Fool for example.
The majors also have a box at the upper left coner which shows the particual celestial signs including the 12 zodiacs. The artwork looks artdeco to me.

Each card has a panel at the top and the bottom giving regular and reversed meanings. However the Death card has a skull and cross bones (?)

Changes to the titles of the Majors are:-

I The Fool = 0/22 The Madman

II The High Priestess = 2 The Popess

V The Hierophant = 5 The Pope

VII The Chariot = 7 The Cart

IX The Hermit = 9 The Anchoret

XXI The Universe = 21 The World

The minors are like normal playing cards. Each minor is numbered at the top for it's poistion within the entire deck. For example the 7 of Swords is numbered 58, but it also has the number 7 on two corners as you would find in a playing deck with a small picture of a spade next to it. The main picture in the centre is of a sword between a desgn which has nothing to do with a sword as far as I can tell.

However the trick to the minors is how they relate to the majors and this is done by their relationship within the zodiac. For example the 7 of Swords is assigned to the date (as indicated at the bottom of the card) 28th Oct - 1st Nov which is Scorpio. The zodiac Scorpio is assigned to the major 14. Temperance. What the LWB does is give the descriptions of the characteristics of each zodiac followed by the meanings of each minor which relates to that zodiac.

The cards are about the size of a normal playing deck and are of good flexible stock which shuffle well.

This is a very deep deck and I am strangley fascinated by it. My first reaction to it when I opened the box was "this is not for me, they don't even look like Tarot...well the minors anyway". But upon further inspection they are actually quite detailed and for those interested in Astrology it is a must.

I don't think beginners are going to get much from this deck, but for experienced readers and those into astrology I thoroughly recommend it.
