Faery Wicca Alternatives

I really like the faery Wicca deck, and I would get it - love the art style and symbolism- but I've got a few problems with it.
I'm a fluent irish speaker, so to me the use of english words for number and Irish words for element REALLY clashes. Because Irish and English grammars are quite different it just sounds wrong to me.
I also can't deal with the F-word in the name of the deck, i'm supersticious about calling the Si by that name :)

Is there a version of the deck with numerals instead of number words, or can anyone suggest a deck in a similar style?

I could suggest a couple of different directions, there is the Brian Froud. A different concept and maybe not what you are looking for if you want to get something more tarot orientied.

There are a few Reniassance, Gypsy, or Arthurian tarot decks that may run similiar in style and concept without bringing up Wingy Thingies outright.

I like the Faery Wicca and other decks that appeal to me are: Arthurian Tarot, Merlin Tarot, Tarot of the Old Path, Celtic Tarot (DeBurgh). I don't know if you can really compare them though.
Now that you mention it, it's odd to have English and Irish on one card, makes the Irish on the card look a bit unauthentic... But I guess you have to be familiar with Irish to notice !
Hope you'll soon find a deck you really like.

I just wanted to say here that we sound like the beginning of a joke somehow:

A cat, a wolf, and a gargoyle walk into a bar to buy a deck of tarot cards......

Hey Cat - check these out:

* Tarocchi Celtici - Laura Tuan (De Vecchi Italia)
* Celtic Book of the Dead (cards) - Caitlin Matthews (St Martin's Press)
* Celtic Tree Oracle - Murray/Card (US Games)
* Tarocchi dei Celti - Antonio Lupatelli (Lo Scarabeo)
* I Tarocchi Celtici - Gaudenzi/Tenuta (Lo Scarabeo)

There's heaps of Celtic Tarots out there - is this what you're after? I don't know if there is an Irish/Gaelic deck out there - you'll have to do a search on GOOGLE perhaps??

Good luck!

Oh - and happy hunting :D

Maybe the Wild Spirit deck?

:THP

Thanks for all your suggestions. Now I have a huge list of 'must buys'. Loved the Wild Spirit and Tarot of the Old Path. And lots of others I encountered on the way.

However, while weighing up the pros and cons, I called into a bookshop, and the Glastonbury Tarot practically leapt off the shelf and into my arms. I knew nothing about it, but it definitely wanted to be bought :)

And it's wonderful. Optimistic, Friendly and beautiful. The images are very simple, but the colours and so vivid, and when a spread is laid out, they all work so well together. Definitely a deck more than the sum of its parts.

Glad you find a deck you really love...
Many people seem to like the Glastonbury deck... does anyone where I can see this deck on the Internet ?
(Not that I'm planning to buy any more decks of course ;))

I was just about to suggest that one :)

cat, thanks for the link. Like the Glastonbury deck, it's an old theme but it looks contemperary as well. I think I can relate to this kind of deck better than the Arthurian, which looks more 'historic', if you know what I mean. (Although I still think it's very pretty).
Looks like an interesting site to look around a bit as well (though Iwill not buy anything of course... well maybe just a thing or two... })
