Hello, Tarot (The Hello Kitty Deck)

Does anyone have this one? I would think about getting this one for gits and shiggles, just because some of the cards seem so odd in this format.

I am worried about the prints though, the cards I saw on the net were in black and white and the pictures did not seem the best.....

I get into the non traditional decks sometimes, and I would love to read any companion book that might come with this, particularily if it came from the Japanese branch of Sanrio (I am fascinated by Japanese culture/folklore at the moment), to see how they explain a blind-folded, yet still smiling, Hello Kitty in the cards.

I think it's a cute deck also, but I'm pretty sure it's out of print and difficult to find now.

It's not a Sanrio-approved deck. The artist's E-mail address is joeartguy@stic.net, and as of late September 2001, when I inquired about it, there were still copies available. Here's what the artist told me by E-mail:

Hello, Tarot -- fun and easy to order!

Just send your name and address and a check or money order for $15 (for one deck, no s&h) made payable to "Joe Rosales" to:

Animus Studios
attn: Joe Rosales
7403 Castle Wood
San Antonio, TX 78218-2817

Or for those of you who wish to use a credit card, I am set up with PayPal ( http://www.paypal.com/ ) at this email's return address. Just be sure and email me your address also in the note field.

I'll send the cards off as soon as I get your order. The decks are printed in black and white on 90# card stock, with a Hello Tarot pattern on the back (so you can't see through them). There's an original pic for each card, and they follow the Rider-Waite symbology -- so you can actually use them if you want!

My naiveness may show through on this one:

The #90 stock mentioned, is that good, bad, or mediocre?

faunabay  08 May 2002
Oh No!!! Geenius, I was telling myself it wasn't in print anymore so it'd be too expensive for me to buy. So what do you do? Tell me I can get it for under $20!!

hmmmm.....I wonder how long I can hold off not buying it now? Not very long I'll bet! LOL

Violet Gargoyle  08 May 2002
I know what you mean. My problem will be keeping my 4 year old, who is addicted to Hello Kitty, from seeing the card and voluteering to do the 52 pick-up spread with them.....

truthsayer  08 May 2002
considering i'm still kicking myself for not buying the stick ppl deck when it was offered to me for $20 (b/c i thought"who in the he** would want a stupid deck like that?"), i'll have to check this out. of course, this was before i became a thoroughly addicted tarot-holic. now there are no stupid decks--only not enough money! LOL

Hi all,
Ok, I have been busy with school and haven't been here in a few weeks. Now I have to get caught up on all these great threads! Anyway, I have the Hello Tarot. First thing I HAVE to say is that they are on very thin card stock. It is more like medium-heavy paper. I was very disappointed in the paper. It really makes the cards hard for me to use. The pictures are pretty much RW based with a few variations. The black & white style doesn't bother me. I kind of like the simplicity and I think that works well with this deck. I have been a bit surprised at the insight I get with this deck! For collectors, it is definately a fun deck to have. For reading - that depends on the person. You will either like these cards or consider them a waste of your money because they are rather cheaply made.

I might still consider it later. Only problem would be that I probably would have it just to look at, I am always worried about paper quality because I am such a hard shuffler. (More than one playing card deck has suffered the bended card syndrome)

I emailed Joe Rosales; he replied promptly and said he still has decks, and they are still $15. If you live outside the US, shipping is just a coupla bucks extra. Here is the direct link to the shopping page with the deck on it.
