Infinite Tarot

There is this car that I see in town now and then. In the window is a sign, "Infinite Tarot". I figured they read cards and that was a business name. Today I went shopping for a birthday gift and in the giftshop was a tarot deck. "Infinite Tarot". Reading everyside of the box I find that it's 'made' right here!!! So that car, yes they are obviously readers, and add to that deck creators. I looked for it here in the DECKS department and there it was!!! WOW a deck from my smalltowns community (there's a strip of little towns, pop. adds up to about about 3000) and it's on Aeclectic!!!
and NO, I did not buy it. I would have liked too.
Especially after checking it out here, I only got to look at the box. I seem to be drawn to decks that are not so traditional, this one sounds like one for me.

Luna:

No surprises here. That is indeed a very northern CA looking deck -- I can almost smell the incense, taste the standard side dish of brown rice, raisins and garbanzos, and hear the Greatful Dead's "American Beauty" playing in the background.

Of course, it's a completely non-traditional deck. What else?

Hi Luna,

Is there a chance to get this deck for me? I do not get it here in Germany but I'd love to have it. Maybe we could figure out something?

Pl let me know either by PM or e-mail to: edited to remove e-mail address

Thanks in advance.

Well, that really is a little cutie isn't it? Its on my wishlist right now! Catboxer's right: Its certainly not traditional, but for me, that's a bonus: I won't use it, it'll just be in my collection, and at the moment, I am going for more 'diverse' decks...

Aswell as this one being diverse, the artwork is stunningly gorgeous: Aswell as simple and easy to look at! Added bonus!

I think that there is a link to order this deck.
If they won't do overseas, I'd be happy to be the middle man....

I GOT SOME. Jojo came to my work after a few emails between us and dropped off a few decks. She threw one in for free cuz of water damage...the box came unglued is all....Being in a small community, we did both recognized each other.

Every reading I have done since I have gotten it has been a thrill and a half, wonderful, magical. Before I enter the LWB...I look and look, using what I know and what I feel, I do my reading. Then the LWB, more of the same, but in jojo's insperational words.

IT is different, but has a wonderful Tarot feel. 4 suits of 19 cards. I can tell already that IT will be easy to learn. Rachel's art work does a fine job of bringing out the cards meaning and feeling.

This deck is wonderful and beautiful. If you like pretties, things unique and of course tarot....this is one to have.

I have this deck and really like the art work, but I really think it's a bit misleading to call it a Tarot deck (not that I think anyone is trying to pull anything). With no Major Arcana and simply 4 suits of 19 cards I would call it a divination deck instead. For me, at least, having no Majors makes it just a bit more than "non-traditional". But then that's probably just the virgonian in me :D

I agree ... by the way I do not believe it is the virgonian in you as I am a piscean and agree ;)

I'm a 4 time virgo, one is my rising. I like the term non-traditional. Yes, it IS a divination deck, if one wants to compare the IT deck to another divination deck say medicine cards, IT is more like tarot.
must a deck have 78 cards and majors to use the T word?

I agree with you, we can call it a Tarot Deck.
There are many examples of this. For example, also the Greenwood as a different structure, similar to that of the Infinite.

Depends on who you ask ;) ... for me to consider a deck a tarot deck the answer is yes, and is broken-up as follows: 22 majors, 56 minors (4 suits of 14 cards 4 of which are court cards). But just because that is how I view decks does not make it right for everyone else.

P.S. I am a 4 or 5 time piscean (need to double check my chart again)

Can't wait to get my hot little hands on this one!!

toysgirl  26 Aug 2002
Infinite tarot shows up on eBay every few months. It can be purchased directly from the artists:

http://www.infinitetarot.com/

It isn't strictly a tarot deck--you wouldn't be able to just pick it up & read with it based on any general, "standard" meanings assigned to other tarot decks' cards. Infinite Tarot has some additional cards & an interesting arrangement of 'court' cards, but it is a delight to work with--as long as you have the LWB to rely on.

I have been helping to promote/distribute this deck for JoJo with success. The deck actually has LESS cards than a traditional tarot deck, what cards are you considering additional???
DELIGHT: YES!!! I have offered readings in the exchange section using just this deck to get to know it. I find that the images on the cards are easy to read (using basic symbology) with out the LWB. The LWB adds extra insight as to the insperation that went into the card meanings, it does refine the reading after the intital looking over. May be different for others, but for me, this deck and I are fusing quite well. Amazing readings!!!!

Actually, I spaced on the deck's size, forgetting that this deck doesn't have the major arcana. I was thinking of the "higher trumps," the altered court cards (mother, daughter, the gift, joker, etc.) and kind of got bogged down there.

But this deck seems large to me, expansive. I haven't done a lot of reading with it (mostly when I first got it). It's one of those decks you really need to curl up and spend some time with, like a good book.

Glad to hear you're having some success in promoting this deck. If you sold a signed deck on eBay about 4 months ago, then I probably purchased it from you. Thanks! ;)

not the answer I expected....interesting...
I see the suits "family" cards as being somewhat of a fill in for the majors. In a 'deck' of 1-10 plus courts, these family cards are the extras, instead of majors...I have not curled up with the deck yet. But thought about investigating each card and putting them in to a sort of order that follows the Majors. perhaps one card per card, or any/all cards that fit...part of getting to know it...

During our unfortunate forced hiatus the past few days, I spent some time on tarotgarden browing the decks.. and found this one. I had seen it before and liked it, but this time it really caught my eye...

I remember Luna mentioning this deck to me in another thread awhile back....

Anyway, tarotgarden was out of stock, so I ordered it from the artist's site and I can't wait to receive it. Hopefully I can revive this thread a little when it arrives...

I am interested in anyone else's comments :D

Its definitely not a 'true' tarot - but I understand the concept and how it has been 'reworked.'

I'm really just interested in what people think of the deck and how they've read with it...

ferrous  12 Aug 2004
Just want to bump this thread up from the depths of history.

I discovered this deck on ebay (although I must have passed by it & missed it at AT) & it caught my attention.

Is anyone still using this deck? I sort of like how it's not a traditional tarot deck.

I'm considering buying the one available on ebay ..

I love infinte tarot. I do use it more as an oracle at the end of a reading I draw a card or two and even soemtimes in the beginning to get a feel for what is going on with the querent.

It is a beautifl insightful deck that a tarot with a regular 78 just sometimes can not pull off.

fyreflye  12 Aug 2004
You're in Cazadero? I'm in Sebastopol. Where did you see the Infinite Tarot? In Guerneville? What store? I'd like to drop by and take a look at it.

fyreflye  12 Aug 2004
Oh...I just realized the original post was from 2002:| Strange that I've never seen any sign of this deck locally over the past two years. But of course West Sonoma County is being swallowed up by yuppie wannabees who wouldn't know a tarot from a carrot anyway.

{used to live in Windsor}
I'm 2 counties north in Humboldt.
Several shops in town have the deck for sale.
But you can get a good look at it at her website.

As for those of us who use it. I often use it.
The readings I get from it, often hit on past life issues happening in the current life.

fyreflye  12 Aug 2004
Ah, they're in Redway! Haven't been there since the last Redwood Summer. Yes, it's a very Humboldt deck; I can see it selling well in Arcata and to the rest of us with a piece of Humboldt in our soul. It's not the kind of deck I normally prefer, but new approaches to tarot always tempt me to explore...

Nooooo! They've taken if off sale from ebay!

Oh well, I didn't really want to pay (read: can't afford) that much anyway. *pouts*

If it makes you feel any better, I think the listing said they only ship to the US (your location says Australia)... Of course, I may have been looking at a different auction...

I have this deck... and if you do get a chance to grab it someday, it really is beautiful. I think TarotGarden stocks it too.

I was hoping to get it a bit cheaper than full retail price. I guess I'll just keep looking or else pay full retail when I can afford it.

The shipping to the USA doesn't matter. I have a friend there who I can send things to, as long as the seller agrees to send it somewhere other than my own address. She already has a deck waiting for me to give the go-ahead to send to me actually (the Maddonni, it's so beautiful!), but I'm waiting to see if I can nab another bargain first to make the postage from the USA to Australia more worth it.

Ooooh! Ooh, ooh! I don't have Tarot decks to trade, but I have jewellery & tarot bags at our shop (you can follow my website link .. anything made by ferrous). If you'd like a bag similar to what I make then I can custom make one for you.

Otherwise, umm .. interested in any non-tarot books (I have the so far full Harry Potter collection if you're into Harry Potter. Jean M Auel?) or CDs? Throw a few things at me ..

Hi Luna ~

I know the creator of this deck lives in your town and that you enjoy the deck and use it well...

I was wondering if you ever have time (and wouldn't mind) - if you could share a reading you have done with this deck... (or anyone else, for that matter)...

I love the cards - but they are a little different. I'd love to see how someone else reads with these cards...

Thanks :D :D

fyreflye  13 Aug 2004
Hi, lunalafey,
I see you haven't posted a Wishlist, and I doubt I have anything appropriate to trade, but If you've got a few of these decks to trade (or sell) why don't you offer them on the Tarot Trading Forum?
