Hey everyone. I was just wondering if I should buy the Robin Wood Tarot Deck. If you think I should, reply "yes". If you think no, then reply "no".

Actually it's up to you if you like the art & the feel of the deck. There are a lot of cards posted online (this site & others) so you can see at least 15 or 20 cards in the deck. Add to that that it's an easy deck to find in stores, you shouldn't have a problem getting one. You just need to decide if that's the 'right' one for you.
I CAN say that this deck is an easy one to read, especially for beginners (I've seen total newbies pick up this deck & do a great 5 card reading). The minors are all easy to identify with - the pictures show the meanings, unlike a good majority of other decks where you have to strain to remember what they are.
Out of about 9 decks that I own, this one gets the most use.

I'm with Diana on this. Have a look around the we, see some cards from different decks, read all the reviews you can lay your hands on and if possible get to see the deck in person (or 'in people'?).
Tarot cards are just so personal. For example, I can appreciate the Victoria Regina Tarot artwork, but I'm not drawn to it one bit. It is not for me. Other people love it. That's just fine.
Go with your own judgement and choose with your heart. After all, would you let someone else choose all your friends for you?

A definate NO here. I strongly agree with other comments here; getting a Tarot deck is a very personal matter if you intent to use the deck as such (I asume this is the case since I can't help thinking you'd be perfectly capable to see if you'd like the deck on your own).
And because of this doubt you seem to have I'm taking things a bit further then the others; so instead of simply stating (what I believe to be) the obvious since others have already posted it in here I also want to say that I really think you're not ready for it because of your doubts. Try this link: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/topten.html to get a list of the most "commonly" liked decks and simply look at the pictures to see which one appeals to you the most. Once you settled that then and only then make a definate choice. But really don't let others make the decision for you, its really possible that things won't work out this way and result in a dissapointment.

Don't limit yourself to those 10, either—just because they're the most popular among the Aeclectic crowd doesn't mean that any of them will necessarily grip you. (I for one am not a huge fan of any of those 10.) Take your time. Check out as many decks as you can. Go to www.wicce.com and look at the samples on that site, too. Get a feel for what you want. Ask questions. Don't buy a deck because you think you "should"; buy a deck because it's the one you want.
Mind you, my "no" to the Robin Wood still stands. :)

Hi Chunkypuffs!
I agree with the people who are saying have a good look round and buy what appeals to you - unless you're a collector and just want them all!
I don't think there's any "should" about it - mind you, I'm in the "I see deck, therefore I need deck" category myself!
I've got the Robin Wood and love it, but it's quite an expensive mistake if you find you don't "gel" with it and there are so many other decks out there - although I'm sure you could trade it here pretty quickly.
Whatever deck you get - enjoy!

Good. If I had seen this thread earlier I would have voted "yes". I love this deck too.

I agree with Geenius here. For one the list we voted from was not as extensive as we would have liked ... our options were very limited.
Personally I really like the Robin Wood, but I agree with what others have told you about the deck choice being very personal. The reason I like it is because I find the imagery appealing, I like the colors, and because I do not like the Raider Waite and found this deck to be based on it and easy to follow books, etc using the Raider Waite. It is my favorite of Raider Waite based deck.

Glad to hear that you are liking your Robin Wood deck. It was my first deck and I love it. The pictures appealed to me and it's also my favorite of the RWS clones.

I keep reading posts from all the people who like the Robin W. deck, and I keep looking at it, but it has always left me completely cold. Isn't it funny how different decks appeal to us in different ways? Does anyone know of a link where I can see all of the cards, not just a few?
I'm glad you are enjoying your deck, though. That's really all that counts, not what I or anyone else thinks about how you should feel about it.

Thanks to Jenny-Li for providing this link to see the entire Robin Wood deck.

Wow, thanks for the link! Now that I've seen the whole deck, I still don't think it is for me, but I have a more favorable opinion of it. I am especially impressed with the Swords cards! They really capture the 'feel' of the air element, better than a lot of decks I've seen. I wish I could tune into the whole deck like I did its Swords cards. I think what I am finding distracting about this deck is that the people in it look too real somehow & yes, kind of Ken & Barbie-ish. But I can see the attaction people have for this deck.
Thanks again,
Midnightmerry

I totally agree with this comment, Midnight Merry.
I also have to add that Robin's Queen of Swords is my favorite Queen of Swords of all of the ones I've seen. She's not as harsh and I absolutely adore the butterflies on her gown. Everyone usually oohs and aahs over her Queen of Cups, but my favorite Robin Wood queen (perhaps because she's my birth card) is the Queen of Swords.

My favorite Robin Wood Queen is the Queen of Wands. But you are right all of her Queens are great.

Well, this is the straw that broke the camel's back. I am getting this deck! Plus, Amazon.ca has a good price on it. That was another deciding factor!
