I got this one by Robert PLace last week (during the "Get a Raise and Spend Too Much Money Celebrating It" Festival).
Does anyone else have it? Are there similiar tarot decks out on the market?
I am personally not much into Catholism (I did go to Catholic School for Jr. High, but that is the whole extent and was never baptized anywhere) However, I got this deck because to me the Saints' stories count as localized folklore as far as my interests and studies go. (Look at the different versions of the Our Ladies when you compare their locations.)
More simply, I am a sucker for the stories....

i have tarot of the saints and i like it. i pretty much have it for the same reason you do--i like to read the stories about the saints. i'm not catholic but i've always wanted to learn about the saints and their stories. i don't know if i'll ever be able to read the deck but it's an interesting and collectable set. the art is good and meaningful--if you know the stories behind the images. it's definitely well researched.

The same author has an Angel deck thats prettygood for the majors, unfortuately the minors on that one are crap.
The Golden Tarot of the Tsar is an upcoming deck that has some saint ifo in it, you can preorder it at www.tarotgarden.com
Tarot ofthe Saints is onmy wishlist, more for the Minors than the Majors, im interested in seeing which Bible stories he associated with the cards

The Tarot of the Tsar looks promising, the artwork reminds me of the St. Petersburg tarot...

violet,
i'm currently studying this deck, but when i first bought it about six months ago, i didn't "get" it. then, last month i decided to give it another chance, but this time, i also dug up some books on catholicism to help me further understand the theme. with the added resources, this current undertaking is proving to be much more fruitful.
i think that not having a catholic background initially made the deck difficult for me, and though the book is VERY well written, i still needed some general knowledge to accompany my study of the cards and book.
i mention this in case anyone else is hesitant to delve into the "tarot of the saints", for lack of understanding the predominantly catholic theme. one or two general guides on catholicism might help.
...but that's why i like theme decks--they always force me to learn new subjects!
:)
i agree with liliana: this one is better than the angels deck when it comes to the minors. i've already decided that anything by robert place is a keeper anyway, so i have them both now! however, the saints deck has minors (most of them) with scenes indicative of the card meanings, so i'm hoping to eventually read with it, if we keep liking each other...

I laughed a little when I first looked through the cards. Memorys of Religion class coming back to me. So alot of the picks made sense (Who else for the Wheel of Fortune besides St. Catherine?)
There are a few I will have to remind myself of (I haven't been to any sort of Catholic function in over 15 years) but that is part of why I got the deck. More Deja vu I think.
