Does this sound familiar ?
You have finally convinced yourself: I don't need any more decks right now, I am going to be sensible for a while, no sane person needs so many decks right now...
Then you WILL ALWAYS find a post by a fellow taroholic who is desperately looking for a deck that has gone out of print and can't be found anywhere })
You don't want this to happen to you, just buy every deck you want and buy toilet paper/bread/milk next month, because that's always gonna be there... ;)

WolfSpirit,
I've been learning Tarot since July 2001, and I've already found my first gotta have it deck that is out of print. The most frustrating thing is that if I'd found the deck 3 months earlier, I could have gotten it easily. It was an inexpensive deck then...only $10, and now I'll have to pay between $75 and $125 more than likely.
See, I just need to spend more time online browsing for all those decks that I need to buy this month before they go out of print! Maybe I should call in sick to work because of my TCD! :P

Yep, this sounds familiar! I suddenly have this urge to buy all these decks, just in case they go OOP soon... And it has gotten to the point where I don't buy decks cuz I like them, but I buy them cuz they're OOP, rare, hard to find...
And it is posts such as this one, well, wih titles such as this one, that make me aware that decks are going OOP! Its all your fault, Aeclectics members: I refuse to take any of the blame! })

You can always blame me, Kiama and all you other Tarotholics! I have always been an enabler...my friends stopped taking me shopping with them because I loved everything they tried on, and could always give them reasons why the just *had* to have something! :D
So just say..."It's all Melvis' fault!" It's okay...I'm here for you! ;)
Peace,
Melvis

**sobbing into keyboard hand pounding on my desk**
Tell me about it. I made one enquiry on this forum about a deck which I did not know was OOP at the time and when I went shopping for it I was told by so many places that they had just sold their last copy. Some only days before I asked if they had it in stock.
No I cannot find the Hermetic Tarot by Godfrey Dawson anywhere.
Unless of course someone reading this thread has a copy they want to sell me....

Yes, Liliana, I'm referring to the Stick Figure Tarot.
Waaaaaah! :(
(We have no crying smilies here.)
However, The Tarot Garden is trying to find me a copy.
Poor Jimilyn! :(

One of the reasons I love this community is all the people who are willing to help find things. :-)
I'd never found the Mountain Dream Tarot on my own. })
Thanks everyone - for being just who you are.

Maybe we should set up some kind of 'finding circle', a worldwide thing, for us collectors, who are desperately in search of certain hard to find decks...?

Major Tom,
I'd have never seen the Mountain Dream deck either. It's really cool! :)
Kiama,
That sounds like a great idea. I want to learn more about how to track down tarot decks. I haven't had much of a need to until now, but I'd like to learn so I'll know how when I really need it.

Let me tell you guys it isn't easy trying to track down an out of print deck.
There are hundreds of Tarot suppliers on the net and they seem to carry only the popular type decks.
It seems that the OOP Phantom is really just a black hole which swallows up these decks without a trace. If you are into the obscure types (like I am) then be prepared to spend a lot of time in front of your computer screen.
Gee, I've travelled to more countries and foreign towns in my studio than I have actually being there....

I absolutly agree with this. This community has helped me aquire the Tarot for Cats and Greenwood Tarot, both OOP decks I desperately wanted. In addition I learned of the Tarot Garden here and have obtained a couple of OOP decks from them. I always feel like I have just found a treasure when the OOP deck comes in *LOL*. I feel that here it is simply a matter of time till you find what you want because there are so many willing to help. We are lucky to have and be a part this community. Thanks Solandia!!!!
