I ordered this deck - a sure sign that I'm recovering from burnout :D take a look:

Nice, huh? And it's a complete 78-card deck, not only 22 cards as the Aeclectic review says.

Tigerlily:
The Crystal Tarot is a gorgeous deck. I'm sure you'll love it.
It was originally a 22-card deck. Lo Scarabeo published the major arcana on larger cards as part of its "Tarocchi d'Arte" series. (A lot of LS decks were originally released this way -- as a high-quality 22-card version, and then later expanded to the 78-card "mass market" version.) The d'Arte edition uses an odd cardstock that has subtle, textured bands running through it. The result is that the cards almost shine or glow when held at a certain angle under a light. It's quite interesting. I always love "complete" 78 card decks, but this is definitely one for which I highly recommend the 22-card edition as well.

I recently bought this deck, and I'm enjoying it a lot. The art is beautiful, and the one card readings I've done with it have been right on target.l

I also have it in my collection but I still have not tried out its reading capacities.

I think it's curious that she connected Cups with air and Swords with water, though! The Queen of Swords is Cancer !?! I know of the Wands/Swords debate, but I've never seen *this* combination before! Too bad that there isn't a book coming with the deck - I'd really like to know what propelled her to change the elemental attributions.

I have it too but only to admire the artwork.
I can not do read with this deck :(
And those cards are so small! The artwork deserves more space IMO

The cards should definitely be bigger! But if someone wants to read with them, they have the ideal size for shuffling. I don't intend to use them for readings, so I'd have liked them to be a bit bigger ...

I recently got this deck and I love the art. I haven't read with it yet, but I will soon. To me, I think it would work as a reading deck, but obviously this is not true for everyone. It's beautiful even if all you can do is just look at it, I'd think.

When I was pondering which deck to make my first, I read about the difference of cups and swords in the Crystals Tarot in a review. That was pretty much the only reason I did not get it, as a newbie to tarot, I thought it wise to stick to a deck with the usual connections. Otherwise, that deck is beautiful!

I just found scans of the court cards and descriptions posted on loscarabeo's website. I think in the 2000 or 2001 editions of this tarot for the mass market, the LWB is actually included. I bought the larger 2001 Crystals tarot for the LWB. Here, I believe, is an excerpt:
http://www.loscarabeo.com/spreads.htm
I have the smaller 1995 versions of this tarot, ancient tarot of Lombardy and Renaissance tarot by Trevisan...in both cases of the ancient tarots of Lombardy and Renaissance, their 2001 editions had a change to a larger printing format, a nice LWB with 14 pages and different backs.
In the case of the Ancient Tarots of Lombardy, the new LWB had actual translations from their 1995 book-deck kits being sold in Europe through Trigamo...but shipping costs and a bad experience last year has made me wary of ordering any more book-deck sets...plus trying to make out the Italian text
had cost me too many hours at my novice ability.
Sorry for wandering off-topic, hope the notes assists others.

Kyrie Blue: Do you still have the link of that review? Or do you at least remember if they gave a reason for the elemental switch between Cups and Swords?

Tigerlily: I know that it was mentioned on the Wicce review site and I did see it vaguely mentioned on other review sites but I do not recall that any specific reason for the change was given.

I cannot answer the original question, but I'm starting to explore the Crystal Tarots more---so thanks for the questions. I hope the below might be helpful to those who have this deck.
I'm a little late with this, but I looked through the Crystals Tarots by Elisabetta Trevisan and it made reference to Gustave Klimnt of the Liberty style, just after the Impressionists. The colors and symbolism of Klimnt aren't so well-explained online, but here is a site with beautifully colored images:

I have this deck and have read with it somewhat. Yes, the cups-swords thing is sort of tricky. The deck has semi-pips -- they frequently have more imagery than plain pips, but sometimes they do not. The 3 of Swords, for example, shows three swords over a body of water in which a fish floats upside down; this is a helpful image. The entire deck is just breathtaking, including the minors, despite their partial murkiness.

Hi everyone,
I received the crystal tarot a couple of weeks ago but have only just had chance to look at it in any depth (thats because I got four decks within a short space of time!!!). I decided to look for threads on it but there are very few. Is that because not many of you have it or is it because you dont use it very often? (mmmm too many decks.... too little time.. probably!)
I think the Majors and Court cards are just amazing but am a little disappointed with the pips. Many of them only have suit representation but there does seem to be a little symbolism on them if you are astute enough to pick up on it? Sadly this is where I fall down!! I have been going through trying to focus in on it and give myself mental triggers for the meanings. Has anyone else done this? I am particularly interested in the dog faces on the 3, 7 and 8 of wands. Can anyone throw any light on the meaning here or indeed any tips on some of the other cards. All help appreciated.

jewel-ry: Your question on the dog is a wonderful question. I had noticed the dog often - and had myself wondered about this. Now I've been wondering all day long. :) Perhaps a good night's sleep will bring some inspiration. If you or anyone else has ideas, please share.

Hi Diana (and any one else trying to sort out the dogs head!),
I do have an idea, hope you can follow my thought processes even if they do appear a little confusing. Here goes.....all three of these cards are goal orientated: the 3 warns against rushing towards the goal but is focused on 'preparation', in the 7 'achievement' the goal is getting closer, and in the 8 'projects' we are full steam ahead towards the goal. A dog will always act without thinking and go leaping after a stick wherever it is projected. Could it be that its appearance on these cards is a warning against going in without thinking? Just a thought...

Nice thinking, jewel-ry :)
I was thinking more on the lines of what a dog symbolises in our Western society. It represents Loyalty, I think. They say a dog is a man's best friend. And he looks like a pretty peaceful dog, doesn't he? But I'm not sure how Loyalty would fit in with these cards.
The way you linked the three cards is cool.

This is a gorgeous deck, but the Pips and Minors appeal
much more to me than the Majors,I also find it difficult to read
with but I love to see it.
Definitely should've been larger.

I'm looking at the threads from the Crystal Tarots because I just bought a used deck today! It was quite a find, the box is beat up and it is a miracle all the cards were in it, considering the cover flap is torn off.
Instead of a LWB it has a series of cards that explain the meanings in the sketchiest way possible. And as for what they say the cards mean, well, let's just say I won't be using the definitions!
It is an intriguing Tarot, one that I will be using quite a bit.
I'm oddly drawn to it.
Tonight, after a good shuffle, I was asking a series of questions and getting the most delightful answers. Then, I asked a question that wasn't very clear, not very vivid, and I was put off! I definitely got a "Not Now" feel and could not get the wonderful, playful answers I'd been getting.
It was a strange experience to say the least.
I'm hooked!

I see that this thread is quite old, but I wanted to know if any of you have read with your decks since you last posted, and what you thought about them now...
