Oh, if someone uses it as a tarot, I'd enjoy hearing about it. I do like the creative images.
I think because I am new to Dante studies, I'm not able to mix my Dante universe and tarot that easily. I've just read various Dante books on my own, my first class is meeting tomorrow---I joined them when they started on the Paradiso.
Diane Wilke's Tarot Passages has a great review by Paula Gibby---she writes like a Dante scholar of some experience. Diane Wilkes also has a related link to using it for reading with a client. I did a review of the Dante tarot for Amazon.com that just appreciates the deck as a glimpse into the storytelling world of Dante's works.
But I've seen some references in other discussions where people who don't know Dante really like the images. My sis says it reminds her of modern surrealistic art, so even the dark images seem to her more like theatre backdrops rather than real scenes. Perhaps those who like fantasy decks might be able to give better feedback.
I have had some success with one card draws of the majors and am slowly looking through the minors.
