I really love the psychadelic frames, but how readable is this deck? Do all the color and patterns help or detract from the readings and meanings of the cards?

I have this deck and I find that sometimes I can quite easily get lost in the frames. The Empress card in this deck is one that I entered, the frames make it very easy. But saying that, once focused it reads as well as the Rider Waite, they also make good cards to meditate on.
I like the Diamond, the cards are nice to shuffle and the card stock is good quality.
If I hadn't found the Spiral or the Spiral hadn't have found me, the Diamond would have been my primary reading deck, it takes practise but yes you can get past the colours and shapes of the frames. :)

This is one of my useful and pretty decks for a comparative reading. For instance, if I use a nonstandard but colorful tarot such as Crystal Tarots for a card of the day and come up with a pip card such as seven of cups...and then I may read the pretty but nonstandard meaning and say, "Huh?"
Then I pull out the Diamond Tarot, see a similar seven of cups mini-picture and read a meaning that reminds me of what a standard concept. I may consider the standard daydreaming wistfulness meaning in comparison to the first colorful card that I drew. The additional coloring and frames adds to my enjoyment, as I do sometimes think that focusing on a positive color does lift my mood.
Perhaps it would be a seasonal or mood-enhancing tarot for you---maybe you'd enjoy the pretty colors in the Spring or Summer or want to use it in context with other meditational or creative study.
Best wishes and hope that you come to enjoy this tarot---

emily--
by 'entered' do you mean you've done pathworking with these? if you have, how well do they work. it seems a deck i'd really like to play around with.

I haven't actually done pathworking with the Diamond - I meditated on The Empress and The Sun cards and found them very easy to enter lol I didn't mean to do it but in the borders there are door shaped rectangles, I focused on the front ones to go in and out. The cards are a little brighter than the online scans show and the colours do seem to surround you.
If you like the style of the Rider Waite and are interested in pathworking these cards might suit you, they are certainly very interesting lol :)

I don't think you'll be disappointed, I was given this deck as a gift but I would have bought it :)

I have this deck but have not tried to read with it yet. Am mesmerized by the borders, which are suggestive of energy patterns. They draw my focus rather than the RSW images.
