Ohhhhhhh my!!!! I have made a dreadful mistake and gone to Tarot Passages (www.tarotpassages.com - in case you want to make that mistake as well ;)), where I found one deck that I cannot wait for it to be published and I think it is only in conceptual stages ... and a few others I think will probably find their way into my collection as well. I did not see dates of publication so if anyone knows please please let us taro-holics know.

The deck I am dying to own is the Tarot of Mermaids, mermaid fans out there go to tarotpassages and check the pics of this deck you will LOVE IT!!!!!! I do not care if this deck is good for nothing but looking at it, but I want it and I want it NOW!!! I have not gotten this excited about a deck in a long while!

Other decks that I found interesting are: Fey Tarot, Tarot of Flowers (Laura Tuan), the Pagan Tarot and the Gothic Vampire. Okies I am done now *LOL*

*ROFLMAO* well ~blushes~... I must have been on travel or something ... thanks Kaz!

Okies so I went back and read the thread, the question still remains ... does anyone out there have a clue when these decks are being published?

(and Faunabay I also like the comic book like art just fine, and some LoScarabeo decks leave me cold too ... the Avalon is an example)

purplelady  12 Jun 2002
It's a virtual tarot deck Explosion! New Lo Scarabeo decks are being created and published in ever growing numbers! I was to tarotpassages a day or two ago, I have to say out of all the decks, I like the "Fey Tarot" the best.

Faerie Lin  12 Jun 2002
Yep the Fey Tarot is absolutely beautiful, I am waiting for it to get published also. I think the Animal Lords would be a neat deck for my son when he gets older.

Jewel,
I just knew you'd HAVE to have the mermaid deck!!!! ROFL I was waiting for you to see that one. :D
But really, what is it with the Lo Scarabeo decks? I want so much to like them, but they don't do it for me. Hopefully these won't affect me the way the others have.
I'm with you lilana, the only ones I don't want are the Leonardo and the Angel decks. Well I might not want the Vampire one either, but it's a toss up. :D

Liliana  13 Jun 2002
As a player of theWhite Wolf RPG Vampire:The Masquerade I want it for gaming. Its the first vampire deck Ive ever liked.

:THP

Kellinator  13 Jun 2002
*drool*

I want them all... well, almost all! I especially like the Fey and the Mermaids. It's funny, I've never really cared for Lo Scarabeo decks before!

Jewel  13 Jun 2002
Ohhhh Faunabay, I just HAVE TO HAVE that Mermaid deck! Like I said I will treasure that one even it is not useful for anything but looking at! Does anyone know when the Mermaid deck is scheduled for publication??????? Thanks for the other dates but I did not see my mermaids on it!

Liliana, I love the WW VTM and Darkages as well (although I do not RP). I have read almost every fiction novel they have published including the OOP ones. I like writting VTM short stories :) (although I have not had the time to in a long time). I just love the world of intrigue they have created, and I love the clan system. Anyway enough of VTM!

I WANT MY MERMAIDS!!!!!!!! Help me find out when they are coming out .... PPPPPLLLLLEEEAAAASSSSEEE! (there is nothing as pitiful as a taro-holic in agony!)

Lee  13 Jun 2002

Liliana  13 Jun 2002

Jewel  13 Jun 2002
NEXT YEAR!!!!! ~faints~

Maan  13 Jun 2002
I wish i could catch you Jewel....But i'm on the floor too. LOL ;)

D*mn that's a REALLY long time

Jewel  13 Jun 2002
~hugs Maan, cries, and faints again~ *ROFLMAO* ... thanks Maan, I needed a shoulder to cry on, the best I can hope for is that Lee come back and say it will be available in January of 2003 *LOL*.

faunabay  13 Jun 2002
Yeah, the Fey and Durer tarots will be released in Sept., but the llewelyn catalog doesn't say anything about the others yet.

But they also have one that looks kind of interesting, also coming in Sept. It's called the Comparison Tarot. Each card is quartered so for example on the Fool card you see the Rider Waite (or Universal can't remember), Tarot of the Sphinx, Tarot of the Origins, and one other (can't remember which right now). So you actually get 4 different side by side comparisons on one card. I don't think I'd want to actually read with it, but it'd be fun to have.

Jewel  14 Jun 2002
Sounds like you would need a magnifying glass unless it is the size of the Rhorig or large Thoth ... I want my mermaids ~pouts~

Lee  17 Jun 2002
Sorry, I was unable to find out anything about the Pagan Tarot, but the Tarot of the Mermaids will be released at the beginning of 2003, and so should be available in North America in the first half of 2003 (my assumption from this is that you might be able to order it from Italy, perhaps, earlier than when it will be available in North America).

Maan  17 Jun 2002
Thank you for the effort Lee
Guess i have to wait and see. It is a good way to practise my patience :)

Love and Light

Jewel  17 Jun 2002
Lee you are so wonderful! thank you, thank you! And you came back with the best possible scenrio, early 2003. I will see what I can learn between now and then to get one ASAP upon its publication. Perhaps Alida might be the aswer for that one. Hmmmmm .... can't wait!

purplelady  18 Jun 2002
Well Jewel, patience is a virtue, 'ya know ;) ! And just think of what you have to look foward to! A wonderful mermaid tarot! I am real curious to see the deck. I'm curious how mermaids , who I would think spend the majority , if not all of their time in the water, are portrayed for wands, swords , pents, AND cups ? Can't wait to see it either!
ps. I wonder if there are any merMen?

Jewel  19 Jun 2002
Aye Purplelady it is a virtue ... one I do not possess when it comes to tarot decks *LOL*. I am a mermaid lover and I think it can be done. Depends on how they choose to use the various myths that exist, because in some the mermaids can go on land. Another choice the artist would have is to completly ignore elemental correspondences and use the psychological correspondences (i.e. intuition, emotions, intellect, etc). I think they could have done something all together different with the Tower card ... an underwater explosion of a mer-city would have worked just as well. As for mermen ... ~chuckles~ well, I have seen some mermaid art with mermen in them so I certainly hope the deck has some of them too! I think we have gotten to used to the stereotyped mermaid combing her hair and singing men to their rocky death ... there is much more to them than that! Like I said I hope the deck draws on some of the mermaid lore that it is out there in the world, if they do it could be a very interesting deck.

purplelady  19 Jun 2002
I must confess! Years ago, and a couple of apartments ago, I was having the whole apartment painted , and so had to vacate for half the day. And what was there to do then but go shopping? And though I'm way past my childhood (I think?) I ended up buying myself a barbie doll! Yes, my one and only barbie doll , and it's Mermaid barbie! She has long long long platinum blond hair with stick -on stars in it! And she wears a gold gown with mermaid tail! I never got to buy her 2 companions, one with long black hair and one with red hair (pouts)

Jewel  20 Jun 2002
*LOL* w/ Purplelady ... I'm sorry hon. I have a wonderful book, coffee table style, that is all about mermaid lore and pictures. Beautiful book. I had actually considered trying to design a Mermaid deck incorporating a lot of this lore if I ever had the time to get around to and could find someone that could draw. But looks like I will have to wait and see what this deck brings and if it would still be a worthwhile effort. If I ever did, I would certainly want to write a companion book that would incorporate the mermaid lore and how it trasfers to Tarot. In my design I was thinking of eliminating the elemental correspondences. Alas, I shall leave that for another time and perhaps one day I will be participating in the deck creation study group :) ... If only I could draw ...
