Hellu all. :)
Well, yesterday I finally bought the Mantegna tarot, which is one of the most beautiful decks I've seen. It's not actually a tarot deck, and you can read more about it here (you ought to, it's very interesting ;) ): Mantegna Tarot (wicce).
Now I wonder, does any of you have it? Have you used it? Tell me, tell me!! :D

I haven't got it, but I'm thinking about buying it because I think it's very beautiful. I was wondering about whether it's easy to use or not, because it seems to be a whole different system.
I'd be interested to know your experiences with it as a reading deck!

It's a very special deck, and I couldn't stop looking at the cards yesterday. But before I use it I think I have to study it a bit first. I'll keep you posted on how's it going. :)
The system is completely different from all I've seen before, and especially since it's only 50 cards. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
I checked the price at amazon.com yesterday, and it's listed with a price of $25. I paid a little over ten here at work. :D And we've had it since I started in October. I haven't looked at it properly either, but when I finally had the chance I just had to have it.

It's been on my wishlist for quite a while too! Please let us all know what you think about it once you've had a chance to use it a bit!

That's really strange. At my job (a Borders) it's $20, like all the other Lo Scarabeo decks, and Amazon usually lowers things from the publisher price, sometimes by quite a bit. I wonder why this would be an exception...

I know! I was really surprised to see this high price. And I couldn't find it at amazon.co.uk. Amazon is overall very cheap on tarot decks, except for this time... wonder why too.
So, you haven't tried it out?

It depends where the deck is from, the US or Europe. If it's from the US, you're usually better off getting it from Amazon.com, even with the higher shipping costs; if it's from Europe, you're usually better off getting it from Amazon.co.uk. Depending of course on where you are, I guess this only applies when you're in Europe.
For example, the Legend Arthurian deck & book set is $32,45 / EUR 34,39 from Amazon.com and GBP 34,94 / EUR 54,07 from Amazon.co.uk (both prices include shipping costs to the Netherlands). That's a difference of nearly 20 euro!
So I always check both Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk for prices.

Me too, but as I mentioned above, I couldn't find it at Amazon in England. :P

Actually I bought it many months ago but ended up returning it when I realized that it was not a standard 78-card deck. This was before I had figured out that you can findout lots of information online about a deck before you buy it... It's a beautiful deck but I am pretty stuck like glue to the traditional tarot structure. Of course I *had* to buy the Faeries Oracle, but that was just an exception... no, really... ;)

What a shame! :P I'm trying to find someone who has used this and can share their experiences... *pout* Hm, I'll go post a new thread asking for spreads for this one...

Well, this won't help much, but I don't have the FULL Deck, I just have 25 cards...
The first series, the one from the Peasant to the Emperor (I may be wrong, but I don't feel like going back home to check! *lol*), the second of Phebo Apollo and the Muses, and the third only five cards, till Gramatica I think, or Rhetorica...???
I got them with a sort of weekly magazine, not really a magazine... It came in instalments, and I forgot to get the second and compete the deck!
However, the system is TOO unconventional to be taken as a Tarot Deck. My idea was simply to keep it, just using the cards corresponding to Majors... Yes, I know which cards corresponds tyo which! :P
For example, Saturn can be used as The Hermit, Mercury as The Devil.
In the end I couldn't try this approach - atually I was considering sending some cards to friends... friends reading the boards. :P ;)
If you can't follow the special approach of the Set (NOT A DECK! :P), you might try my advice... :D
