Given the upsurge in interest in Rohrig I thought Id talk on the Princess of Pentacles. You may see her here
http://www.tarotpassages.com/cr1.jpg
She is very pregnant, which may be disturbing if you consider her a child like the Princess normally portrays.
The book says
"Motherhood. Love and Warmth. Renewal and new beginning. Fertility and increase."
Sounds more Empress,or at least Queen to me, and in fact the Empress doeshavea similar description only she enodies all aspects of feminity.
The book says on the Queen
"The mature, cheerful, fertile aspect of feminity. Everything is at her disposal, and she disposes of everything as she sees fit. The woman who clings to material things."
The artist didnt write the book, this is someone elses interpretation of his art, and i agree with much of the above except the fertile part
What I believe was done in the Pentacles is that the princess equates more to the Queen in other decks than the page, and that his Queen actually represents more the Crone stage of feminine life.
Just reading the description of the Queen makes me think of the no nonsense older woman who does just what she wants, and if you dont like it she tells you where to shove it lol.
Anyone else have any possible explanations or thoughts on the prenant princess?

Hi Liliana! the Rhorhig is an interesting deck. You might want to consider making future individual card posts in the talking tarot, general study group forum or chat or some other section before that big bad ole meanie Lee ~giggles~ moves your thread to some hard to find forum like tech-support *LOL* .... sorry Lee I could not resist! *LOL*.

I wasnt sure where specific card discussion went, i thought decks because it was a specific deck ad not generally talking about the princess. Lee can move them if he feels so inclined hehe Sorry.
I didnt know the Thoth princess was pregnant, as I really dont like the Thoth deck lol.I know, it seems stupid that my favorite deck is based on one I dont get anything out of. Well, I do like the Lovers.
Anyway I got out my Thoth and looked at it and yep she is, the LWB said so too, pregnant with all life.
Im thinking to fully get the Rohrig Im going to need a good Thoth book. Any recomendations that might work for a Thoth spin off?

That was sooooooooo funny
ROFLMAO
I thinkhe was trying to portray a disk (pentacles are disks in the deck, personally id call them spheres.)
If you look closesly the disk really isnt attached to her, infact its a different color than her skin,i think its supposed to be like an egg. It gives her the illusion of being pregnant, boy theres a lot of interpretation possiilities in that.
I also wonder why the leaves totally covering her eyes, blinding her?
Could it be a mothers love for her children is blind?
I love this deck hehe, so much to think on

if we look into a bit of kabala...
the princess of pents would represent the final stage of the material world-- pregnant and ready to deliver the earth. pre-empress in a way; the empress 'rules' what has already been created.
as to navel-- eve wouldn't have one (??)

Thats right huh? Eve wouldn't have one, for Adam and Eve were "created" not "born" out of the womb.
This reminds me of that one "Charmed" episode lol. Sorry had to add that in...

Well, it seems to me that talking about individual cards from specific decks falls within the purview of Tarot Decks, so my inclination is to let it stay right here. But I don't know what my erstwhile co-moderator might say.

good i was ok posting here, doesnt look good for a moderators posts to be moved lol
And i am quite proud of my evil self for forcing so many to buy this deck muhaha
May I recommend the book too? It provides great insight into the majors, sometimes not even Rohrig specific theres a great Hierophant insight for rider waite decks, and full color glossy photos of all 78 cards without borders.
And you can make fun of the Hanged Man being naked section when hes pictured with clothes now due to publisher stupidity hehe
Oh,and a nice reiki-ed tarot tote from www.tarottotes.com to put it in........;)
muhahaha
Oh, and thanks for your insight steve, that was really cool

I just know I'm eventually going to end up getting the darn Rohrig... It's so airbrushy, but that's what makes it so vivid; and hey, Giger's an airbrush artist, so I can't be too much of a snob about the medium... The Rohrig is too big for my hands and the disembodied breasts are sorta silly. But I'll end up with the deck. Eventually.

<<< Im thinking to fully get the Rohrig Im going to need a good Thoth book. Any recomendations that might work for a Thoth spin off? >>>>
I have the Tarot Workbook by Angeles Airren... it is illustrated with the Toth deck and explains the meaning of the symbols found in the cards. These are more psychological and down-to-earth descriptions than those written by Alister Crowley (this opinion is from what I have heard from others and read online, as I have not read Alister Crowley's books). I do not own the Toth deck and have no desire to, but I was intrigued by aspects of the book (explanations of astrology and "dark cards") so I bought it.

I found the Rohrig used at a local shop and I think I'll get it. Does anyone know whether the book is readily available by itself?

When Lillianna gave the link she accidently spelled it wrong (left out an "o" *G*) - that's why it's not working. I did visit the site, though, and how cool! Lots of great sale items right now too! I had already preceeded to check out when I realized I didn't have any money *G*!

I have the Rohrig. It is so wonderful! I couldn't tell from the images I've seen online that the notebook-page motif was even present. It adds a wonderful dimension to the cards, because having handwritten words here and there on them allows your subconscious to pick things up and reinterpret them for itself. Most of all, I love the landscapes at the bottom of many of the cards. Now I gotta track down that book... :D
