Hi Everyone
I have done a new smaller pocket version of my deck cards are 2.1 inches by 3 inches and come in a heavy box. Also on this size the backs are a sparkly pretty blue. I mount the printed card to a heavy cover stock so they have a nice weight and feel. If anyone is interrested in the deck and would like a sample card please let me know :) as I have a few sample cards available. The smaller version retails for $75.00.
Thanks
Samantha

I'm very happy for you! It's a great thing to see your Tarot deck there in your hands.
Could you tell us about the process you went through? I'd like to hear about exactly what happened between watercolor paintings and printed cards, and I'll bet there are others who are eager to hear also. Especially since you've put yours out in both large and small versions.

And let us know what options the printers gave you, how long the job took them to do, what you had to do to finish the decks off (coalating, etc.) & (if you want) prices. So we can get a handle on it all for our deck creations.

Hi Everyone
I will do my best to answer your questions so hit me with them :) Well first thing is if you want to publish your own deck you should hit yourself up along the side of your head. If you are still considdering it please repeat this process till you have convinced yourself that it is a bad idea. lol (OK seriously)
After finishing the artword we spent about a month and ALOT of hours scanning, adding titles and borders to the cards. A very long and tedious process.
When those were all done we started calling and calling and driving to printer after printer. Most printers I have found won't print on card stock because of the extra wear and tear on the printers. Also most of the large printing machines are set to spreed print which uses a thin paper, the thicker the paper the slower they have to go not to mention the wear and tear on the machine.
Also I had wanted to do a back design but to do that even in just one color added to much cost to the printing not to mention the normal shifting 1/8 th of an inch that even comercial printers that are not set specificly for cards do. So it could not be guarenteed that the cards would all have the design in the same area of the card soooooo no designed backs.
You also need to set the cards up on a page so that they are camera ready unless you want to spend a heck of a lot more for someone else to do it. This means learning about bleed, crop marks, shift allowance and making sure your saved info is in a format there printer can read.....
More to follow :)

Thank You Centar for the comment :) The Court cards were some of my favorite to do as I wanted to make each person have a unique personality instead of doing a cookie cutter change the outfit for each suit court card. I loved the idea of the page of swords as being a child sitting and reading (something I did for hours on end when I was little) I was really hoping to get the idea of the swords as knowledge more than strife. Knowing right from wrong and having that unflagging energy of a child felt right to me. When I was drawing and painting this I thought of Tales of Robin Hood and how right and wrong seem to be so easy to see when you are a child. It doesn't seem till much later in life that you learn of all those pesky shades of grey :)
Sory about the going on but get me started on a card and I can really go on :)

There is something very innocent about your page of swords. It reminds me of when I was a little boy spending hours on end reading and reading and reading - thinking that I could know everything if I just read for ever.
And, again, it's so cute!
