I got the Whimsical and the Halloween decks. My son really likes the Halloween deck and laid all the cards out and looked at them the other night, but it didn't go over very well when we ate out tonight with other members of the family and he proudly stated that he owned a tarot deck "like mommy".
He is quite young, elementary school-age...I took him aside tonight and told him to not tell others they were tarot cards; that some people in our small town connect the tarot with Satanism; I know that is perfectly ridiculous, but what can I say...small-mindedness rules our local area.
Anyway, I really like the Whimsical and look forward to learning both decks!!!
Just had to share that with you all!!!
Blessings, M.

The conversation at this point focused solely on the possible necessity for discretion in one's workplace and/or community about tarot, so I've split off that discussion and placed it in a new thread entitled "Discretion" in the Talking Tarot forum.

Mondk -
You are going to love both of those decks! They are fun to read with and bring a smile to my face when I use either of them.
Enjoy -

The Hallowe'en deck is definately a fun deck to use. The symbolism is wonderful. I've heard quite a few people say they were expecting it for a collectors deck but found that it works very well for readings.

mondk,
I have both of those decks. I got my Halloween deck right about Halloween time last year. My Whimsical is still fairly new. Even though I have not used the Halloween deck much or the Whimsical at all, I already dearly love these decks. I'm looking for the perfect bags for both of them.

I have the Whimsical too--it's really a fun deck, and I use it when I want a "light" reading. I still haven't figured out all the fairy tales the cards are from, but I'm working on it!
Of course, my daughter (elementary school age too) says that it is her deck, and plays with it all the time (yup, "just like mommy"!). i told her not to tell anyone about it either, especially the grandparents, but at that age, they may blab anyway. but is she wants to learn/play that's great, it's a risk i'll take...
