Hey everybody,
Ok, I have to brag. I just got the Ancient Egyptian deck and its great, at first the majors baffled me but Mr. Clive Barrett (thank you :) ) explains them very well in the book (I've not read very far yet though). I can read the minors fairly intuitively but the majors were harder until I understood who each one was and then they became very clear to me.
So, how many Aeclectians have the deck? Perhaps we could start a study group?
Well, I'm off to look at the LWB again, I want to learn the proper names of all the gods and goddesses pictured in the majors. I sort of wish they had their proper names on the cards but that's just me.

I, amongst many, have this deck.
Here is a previous thread (amongst others!) in which this deck is discussed, including some comments Clive Barrett made.
Enjoy the deck

Yeah, I've read that thread. I wanted to start a new one because I was interested in starting a study group and the other thread has so many posts that its several pages long. I was hoping this post would catch more people's attention. I hope I didn't do anything wrong...

Hi Lightlike!
Welcome to the band of proud AET owners! I really do love this deck and thoroughly enjoy working with it. I have always loved Egyptian art but have to confess to knowing next to nothing about the mythology. As I also have the Nefertari but can't get to grips with that I've invested in a couple of books: one on mythology and one on hieroglyphs.
Holmes - delighted to see you've got this deck. I recall the Princess of Cups came up when I did a cut for you - now you can see the card, can you see how I came to my conclusion?

I love the appendices in the AET's LWB... I copied a few pages and sized them down to about 2 by 3.5 inches and stapled them in the middle and made a little booklet to carry in my wallet and study.
the pages I copied were 124-125 and 136-139.

Looks like I'm going to be the blacksheep here. Whilst I like the artwork I have to say the deck left me cold. It was the first deck I have ever opened and it meant nothing to me.
Maybe they will grow on me, but I doubt it. It's a shame because it's a pretty deck. Maybe the cards should have been a little smaller, but for me personall it's just the cards seem to shout a preconceived meaning rather than influence my intuition they tend to distract.

I am going back to the I got it and I love it posts.
I bonded with this deck the first time I read with it. I find the cards resonate strongly with me. The first card that really grabbed me was the three of swords and the rest followed. To me, a wonderful deck.

Yes, the 3 of swords really resonated with me, it's one of the main reasons I decided to get the deck. I'm enjoying learning the myths behind the majors but the minors are so easy for me to relate to and understand. It's only the courts that I have a problem with--not enough going on in the court cards for me to use my intuition.

I have to say that I have wanted this deck for ages - I have loved it since I saw Clive Barretts artwork for it in a book about egyptian mythology!
Now, I'm sorely tempted to go and buy it! See, what you've done?! ;)

I have it! I have it! I have it toooooooooo! :D !
A few first impressions: I have to agree with MystiqueMoonlight here. One of my first impressions after recieving the deck was a coldness, or a woodeness. The people sometimes appear as if they are statuettes in a museum or something. Also some of the pictures are a bit faded or unfinished looking, or have a distant look.
That Said- I Still find myself drawn to the deck, fascinated by it ,and flipping through it quite a bit. It's new so I haven't tried any reading with it yet. I know some people Really like and use this deck so I want to give it a try.
