Need North American Forum Members Input Fast!!!

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 23 Jul 2002, and now archived in the Forum Library.

Jeannette  23 Jul 2002
Hi, Gang!

Jeannette from The Tarot Garden here. I just got off the phone with a representative of U.S. Games. They have agreed to help us obtain some of the AGMüller titles, on a special arrangement basis, that are no longer distributed in the U.S. I have to get the order in fast, as they are just about to close the window of opportunity for us to do this.

What this means is that a number of the tarots that people have recently been chatting about on the forums here -- the Neuzeit/New Age, Kalevala, Kazanlar, Royal Fez, and more -- would be made available to us at a price that would allow us to get them to our customers at prices comparable to those found on the Tarotworld website. Meaning that we would be able to offer our North American customers comparable pricing without the hassle of having to order these selections from overseas.

What I need to know is: how many of you North American tarot enthusiasts would actually be interested in purchasing some of these titles if I can get them to you for about the same price (and the shipping would be less expensive, of course!!)? I'd like all the feedback I can get ASAP, since I can't afford to over- or under-order, but I need to get the order in now.

A list of the specific titles that could be part of this offer are shown below. Thanks in advance to everyone for their input!

I'm telling everyone to get the Kazanlar. Maybe I should ask for a percentage of the sales... :D ;)

Liliana -

The Management Tarot can be seen at Tarot World. It can be seen in the Shop section labeled product novelties.

Phoenix  23 Jul 2002
I might order if I knew roughly how much the Arcus Arcanum would be.

The Tarot Garden sample scans for the Golden Dragon are posted at:

In case it isn't clear (and it probably isn't), the Golden Dragon is a Chinese mythology deck, not a dragon deck per se.

Here's couple of clarifications, based on the posts and private messages I've received so far:

- Unfortunately, I don't know what the exact pricing for any particular title will be at this time. All I can tell you was that I was assured by USG that as a reseller, we would be offered some sort of "wholesale" pricing. Because this all came up very quickly, we've had to work fast, and a bit "by the seat of our pants," at present. So our contacts at USG were unable to provide us with specific prices for each and every title at this time. However, our past dealings with the folks at USG have always been wonderful, and I have no reason to believe that the general information they were able to give me is misleading or far off the mark.

Because the number of copies we order of any one particular title won't number in the hundreds, there is a limit to the reseller "price break" that USG can offer us. Also, not all of the titles on my list may turn out to be available under this arrangement. BUT... having said all this, I can say that most of the deck-only items should run in the $16 - $25 range, while the deck-and-book sets should run in the $25 - $40 range. I expect that the average savings we'll be able to offer our customers, relative to the pricing we've been getting when we've had to work with our secondary-source suppliers for these items, will be in the neighborhood of 20 to 30%.

- Thanks to everyone who has replied so far with their feedback. When replying, it is really helpful if you can note which specific titles interest you most. Please realize that this in no way constitutes a commitment to buy anything... think of it more as a "marketing survey." For example, I would hate to order a zillion "Pauvres" decks, only to find out that everyone really wanted the Tzigane.

Thanks again, everyone... and keep those eCards and eLetters coming!
:)

What about the Margarete Petersen? (I probably spelled her name slightly wrong).

The Petersen is published by Könings Furt, not by AGM. However, we do receive relatively good pricing on the Petersen at present; write to me offlist at jkr@tarotgarden.com if you'd like to inquire about special pricing on the Petersen for Aeclectic members.

(P.S. -- I'm pretty sure you spelled Ms. Petersen's name correctly... good job!)

I would purchase a copy of the Arcus Arcanum from you if you were to order it.

i like the looks of the golden dragon, management, royal fez, and the kazanlar. i can't swear i'd purchase them but i do like the way they look. okay, so that's half-way there to getting them!!!!!!!! LOL there are few oriental style decks that i like but i find the golden dragon more attractive than most. i wish the passages review had been a bit more positive but have i allowed that to stop me before? ;)

No, it's just that it hasn't had any North American distribution for quite a while. So therefore when you actually find it from a North American seller, it's usually priced above European retail because of the cost involved to get it over here at the moment.

I couldn't rightly say. Certainly there are sites based in Europe that must have it available. Our goal is to make the Arcus Arcanum (and other so-called "hard-to-find" AGM decks) available to North American buyers through our website, at prices comparable to those found in Europe.

3. what price

As stated in my earlier post, I can't exactly say right now, as USG was unable to give me final pricing on this short of notice. All I can say with some confidence is "probably $25 or less" (U.S. prices for the Arcus that I've observed usually start at $30 and push up towards $50, when made available on eBay).

Yes, absolutely. We ship anywhere in the world.

I would be interested in the Arcus Arcanum deck and so would 3 other people
i know.

Landon  24 Jul 2002
We'd be interested in the Kazanlar Tarot, and perhaps the Kalevala Tarot and the New Age Tarot, too! Thanks.

Lee  24 Jul 2002
Oops, sorry, I'll be more specific -- I would probably order the Neuzit and the Yeager.

raeanne  24 Jul 2002
Hi,
I would be interested in the Arcus Arcanum and the Royal Fez Moroccan FOR SURE and maybe the Kazanlar!

Jeannette  24 Jul 2002
Hello, Gang!

Thanks once again to everyone who posted or wrote to me offlist with their feedback regarding our AGM order. I just sent off the order, and am now here with my fingers crossed, hoping we will be able to get all of these wonderful decks at a great price!

The Arcus Arcanum was the title that definitely got "the most votes," followed by the Kazanlar and Royal Fez. It appears that the Neuzeit/"New Age" and Yeager are quite popular as well.

We ordered some number of copies of all of the titles on the original list, but thanks to everyone's feedback, I hopefully requested the right quantity "balance" of each.

No one's input is considered a "commitment to buy," of course. So, if and when we receive these items, I won't be troubling anyone with a private follow-up e-mail, unless you specifically write and ask to be directly informed when we have more news. Otherwise, watch the Aeclectic Forum and the Tarot Garden website for updates on our quest to get these great AGM titles back to North America!

I realize my post is a little late, but perhaps you'd want the imput anyhow. I'd definitely order the Kazanlar and the Neuzeit if I weren't so financially challenged at the moment! (hopefully I won't be someday in the future!)
