Well, the rest of you tarotholics struck again! I took a look at the deck online after someone mentioned in a thread. I don't know who specifically to blame though! ;) The deck immediately caught my eye because of the bold artwork and the bright colors. It was put right at the top of my wishlist because it made such an immediate impression. Well, I went to a psychic fair and looked through a copy of the deck. I was not disappointed (darn it ;) - I wanted to be so I could save my pocketbook)! In fact, I only wanted it more, but I was going to be good and wait and save! Then a strange chain of circumstances told me that this deck wanted me. So I bought it, and I do not regret it.
Reading with it is wonderful. Although the images might seem simple because of their thick lines and color intensity, they give me so much insight. I can get so much information simply from my one card daily draw. I love the fact that the deck shows people of all colors (even blue!) and people of all body types. Certainly not the common superficially beautiful people in most other decks. But they are beautiful people. I can feel their personalities jumping right out of the deck at me. This deck is simply brimming with life energy. It's not quiet at all. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves vibrance and simple pictures that speak volumes. I also recommend it for people who don't value the physical "perfection" so desired in our society - in other words, people who like others for who they are.
It's certainly a different vibe from my current most beloved deck, the Spiral, but they are both good for specific times.
:) Kes

Well, the general idea I got (with some excellent help) from the New Deck Spread was that the deck is going to keep me on my toes. But that seems to be exactly what I need right now.
You can see the reading and interpretations for yourself here:

I think it likes me but in that "tough love" sort of way. Feel free to add your own thoughts.

Hi
I got this deck at the beginning of last week. I`ve only been studying tarot for about a year and have desperately been looking for a deck which I can really relate to.
You guys talk of decks which `speak` to you and I think that I`ve found what you mean. The World Spirit tarot is just a dream to work with - I find that I can read intuitively with it and don`t have to take as much notice of my memorised card meanings, with this deck I`m finally beginning to feel like a tarot reader. I`m looking forward to many happy years with it.
Blessings

I love this deck too. I got it at Borders one day after sending my Celtic Dragon to someone for $20. That way I could rationalize the purchase because after I got the $20... the WS REALLY only cost me $5 right???? LOL Tarotholism is fun! :D

Ooooooh this is such a great deck! It was my first deck that I could actually intuitively read with...!
Hm, mine has been resting for a while, while I've been working with the Robin Wood and the Osho deck, but when I sent the Aeclectic link to the World Spirit to a friend just today, to show her the beautiful images, they really struck me... AGAIN! So I think it might be time for my World Spirit deck to wake up from the nap, and get back to "work"...!
It is a beautiful and insightful deck, I've learned so much from mine I don't even think I would have stuck with Tarot if I hadn't got the kick that I got from this deck! Truely amazing!
Good luck with it!
Light and love,
Jenny :)

i've been pondering getting this deck for my nephew (age 13). does the LWB have anything to say about the artwork, or is it just the usual list of keywords? do you think a youngster would feel at home with this deck?
|
| Keslynn |

Well, the World Spirit only comes as a Llewellyn mini-kit in which the deck and book are packaged together. So the LWB is neither little nor white. It's the same size as the deck and about 130 pages. It's not quite a "real" tarot book, but it does go into a lot more depth than your regular LWB. It seems to be fairly informative though I haven't really read too far in the book. Anyone familiar with RWS can read this one right off without ever having to look at the book.
As far as youngsters liking the deck, I would say yes and no. The intense colors and multicultural aspects are definitely good for the young mind. However, this deck does sport some nudity. It's not meant to be titillating, but it is still there. Just a little warning about that. If the particular youngster can be mature about the nudity, then I think it's an excellent choice.

13 isn't really a youngster these days especially not for a boy.
He probably already knows (and also done) a hell of a lot more than you give him credit for!

I think that 13 year old girls are more mature than boys. Want to hear something Realllly embarrising?! I have a 13 year old son. Awhile back I was working with the Cosmic Tribe deck, pulling a card a day. I would usually do this at night when my son was in his room. Well, one night my son came out and saw my cards fanned out on the table, only the backs were visible. And he asked if he could pick a card. I didn't even think of it , I just said "sure". He pulled the page of swords. It seemed really fitting for him too! The card is a very young looking man - totally nude. My son was mortified, ran off, and won't go Near a tarot deck now! Um, I was so used to working with the deck myself that it didn't occur to me how embarrised he would feel seeing a deck like that! So..............I think boys that age can be quite squeemish!
My older son ( 19 now) decided he liked Daughters of the Moon deck! I can't imagine why? :P .
As for World Spirit deck, I don't really feel attracted to the pictures, and have waffled back and forth over buying it for quite some time now. I suspect it may be more powerful in person than just pictures online, especially because of the black borders. I'll probubly end up with it someday. You are all making me so tempted! From what I've seen I think it would be o.k. for a 13 year old, depending on their maturity that is.

Alright, now you guys have really done it! I blame you!
I looked at some online pictures of this deck again and thought some were really cute! There's one with a guy riding a camel, can't remember if he's the chariot, or one of the knights, but I thought it is such a cute card! I'm not sure why I don't care for the Temperance card so much? Maybe I will like it better in person. Also, this deck seems to have a very expressive picture on every minor.
I............might..............just..............go.............

It's all your fault truthsayer! I've got tarot-a-holism!

I love this deck!!! I actually almost bought it in Spanish ebecause I hadn't seen the Englis one and the picture on the box practically jumped off of the shelf at me.
My favorite card is by far the Temperance card. I wish he was real *sigh* :) I also love the Strength card, umm and the death card...
oh who am i kidding... I love all the cards.
And as far as the book goes. I love that it provides a description of the cards as well as inward and outward manifestatons of the card meanings..
an all around great deck

starfish you are halarious! My son does that exact thing.
Today was a crazy day that you don't even want to know about! I thought I would have a lot of alone-time to go online this weekend. It hasn't worked out that way at all.
But I DID sneek off to Borders , I Love it there! And they probubly have the best selection of decks and metaphysical books out of all the bookstores around.
And now I've got my hot little hands on the World Spirit. Yeah! :) .Here's my little critique of first impressions-
I like the court cards a lot. Each card in the deck has expression and direction. (Not sure exactly how to explain "direction" except.............each card seems to literally point me, or my attention in a certain direction in space. And the direction is different for each card.) Each card Knows what it is saying and where it is going, and maybe where it came from!
Some of the cards are very dark, black. Not in mood but in actual color with the large black borders and all, but it doesn't really bother me. It's a nice contrast to many other decks that are "lighter".
Each card SAYS something and conveys a mood very well without being Overly dramatic.
I have to say one thing, there was a thread awhile back about the 10 of pentacles, and truthsayer had a problum with this card. Well, I DO agree, the 10 of pentacles is just Weird! It stands out to me in it's weirdness in this deck, because there's a man with no pants on! - BUT he has a shirt or vest on and I think a necklace too. So- It doesn't seem that weird to me if some of the figures are nude BUT it does seem a bit off that this man is sitting on a pillow meditating with little children playing nearby and he just plain has no pants on! I can only think of 2 things - either there isn't any great meaning to that and the artist just somehow thought it was a nifty meditation outfit OR he is maybe meditating on raising his kundalini! LOL Aw well!
Some of the other pentacle cards don't seem very Happy to me . I don't know that they are supposed to be happy but- they seem a little less happy than they ought to be. Maybe this ties in to the 10 of pentacles strangeness? I don't know.
Oh , and the fool keeps leaping away, literally!
First he ended up on the floor and I had to look for him (or her, she's a her). THEN she ended up out of order in the deck................

i find it amazing that my name has been brought up 3x in this thread and this is the first time i've read it! and what's even stranger to me is that there seems to be a tone of "it's truthsayer's fault we're all hopelessly addicted to tarot and are down to stealing the pennies left in our kids' college savings to buy new decks!" ;) an even odder fact is that i was so offended by the 10 of pentacles of the WS at first that i almost traded it but was counseled here into keeping it. now it's MY FAULT you're buying this deck! ROFLMAO!!! WHAT IRONY! i feel like i'm lost on a script to the twilight zone or alfred hitchcock or the X-Files...if this thread were on the wheel of change or neferteri or ananda then i could understand why it's my fault. but this one isn't high on the truthsayer seal of approval list and i'm blamed for it! what's the world's spirit coming to? Actually, I've had tarot-a-holism for a couple of years now at least. So, I don't REALLY blame truthsayer. But I do sometimes tend to write whatever pops into my head , or my typing fingers at that very moment, thinking I'm very funny. And despite the 10 of pentacles, and maybe the sun, I DO really really really really really really love my new world spirit tarot!! ( La La La La La La La La LA LA LAHHHHHHHHHHH! dedicated to starfish! :) !)

~giggle/snicker/snort/chuckle/cough/sniker/snort~ I love it!! *LOL* ... I have not read the other 2 pages of this thread so I am not sure if I was ever blamed from propagating the need for this deck ~giggles~ at any point. But for the record I DO really LOVE this deck. Now that I have read the book I don't care for the book too much but the deck I continue to love (and yes I would still recommend reading the book once, then you can toss or burn it if you like).
I just think it is so cute how you usually get blamed for influencing people ~giggles~. Well hon at least you know I will never blame you, and will support you and Faunabay in influencing others where possible *LOL*. I mean, what kind of Taro-holic would I be if I didn't? After a long wait I finally got my World Spirit!
And I absolutely love it! The only problem I'm having with it is that the cards are so big, which makes it difficult to shuffle. :(
Anyway, here's my new deck spread for the World Spirit:
1) What will you teach me: Ace of Swords
inspiration, insight, intellect
2) What do I need to do: Four of Swords
solitude, reflection, time to seek wisdom
3) What will our relationship be like: Seeker of Swords
widen your perspective, stimulate necessary changes

I don't have my deck here but I just reflected when I read that you got the 4 of Swords in your New deck spread - to me this card is also a lot about healing, and giving yourself the TIME and space to heal. Perhaps this deck is the one that will help you face stuff that needs to be faced and heal from them?
I still love this deck so much, it's one I'll never let go of!
