Sacred Rose; Tarot of the Trance

I just bought the Sacred Rose Tarot deck & book set last night and I'm expecting my Tarot of the Trance to arrive any day now. I'm really enjoying reading the book to the Sacred Rose and I'm fascinated with the artwork- the people look almost eyeless to me, although they may just have their eyes shut. It's a very unusual effect, almost creepy! Does anyone have any experience using either one of the decks? Midnightmerry

Actually that's exactly why I don't own the Sacred Rose deck.....the eyes creep me out completely!!!! I know there are many people who love this deck, but to me...ICK! LOL

Well, I surprised myself by really liking this deck. I do like the eyes, as weird as that seems. I seem to be in a strange mode lately. I went for a long time without buying any decks and now I'm buying decks that I don't know if I would have been attracted to a few years ago. The Tarot of the Trance, for instance. A few years ago, I would have been put off by the 'business' of the cards & the primitive artwork. Now I like it. Hmmmm. So long as the Majors are fairly traditional, new looks are really getting my attention now. Now, to see how these decks read...

This is interesting: Johanna Garguilo-Sherman writes in the book accompanying the Sacred Rose deck that the reason she left the eyes without irises or pupils is because "the figures..especially the Major Arcana, funtion as masks of archetypal energy. When the student is advanced or comfortable enough to chance a more intense encounter, they may attempt to "place the mask on" in order to experience the energy in a guided meditation..." She recommends this for the advanced student though & suggests having another individual present.
