I gotta know, blue:

How did you come about the choice for Sailor Venus for the Heirophant?

blue_fusion  18 Jul 2002
well, the hierophant for me symbolizes an authority figure of some sort, or at least one who holds a distinct position in society. Well, sailor venus is the only sailor warrior ever to have a following in the world they live in (as sailor V, notice i included a mask in the image), well, in this case, as she is the only one with real media exposure. and my goal for the major arcana was to fit in all of the major characters with their most relevant card relations. in the end, that was perhaps what was best for her (although the empress card would have also fitted perfectly, just that i had to make michiru and haruka empress and emperor). i hope you do understand. :)

HIP!!! COOL!!!

But now I am curious about the choice of the Wheel (in Italian the cats are called Luna and Artemis).
And the three Galaxy Sailor Warriors for the three virtues arcana.
An the choice for Emperor and Empress too.

PLEASE!!! :D:D:D

Sure :D

I love finding out what drives artists to make the choices about their cards.

I was most curious because of the choice for one of the Sailor Scouts in a card normally given to male character, and I thought you made a neat decision.

You did a really good job, are you going to publish this deck when you finish?

first of all, i'm pleasantly surprised that a lot of you guys are actually interested in sailor moon.
as for the explanation, ok. here goes.

for the wheel, as it symbolized fortune, its ups and downs, its travails, pleasures and pains. I made a wheel with all of their zodiac signs, and the three cats were there as they have been the ones accompanying them in their missions, in their - dare i repeat - fortune, its ups and downs, its travails, pleasures and pains. they have always been there, witnesses to their triumphs and failures. (and yes, even here in the philippines they're named diana, artemis, and luna)

as for the three virtues, i associated ach of the virtues with their names - star healer, star fighter, and star maker.

star fighter for the justice card, as well, s/he defends and upholds justice in the galaxy, ensuring, what the justice card symbolizes for me, fairness, reflective wieghing of decisions, and the pursuit of right.

star healer for the strength card. this card for me, symbolizes strength: physical, mental and spiritual. The aspect of healing implies someone passing on a part of someone to another, a kind of support. in healing there is the leaning of a person to another for this supprot, and this person gives, shares, and becomes strength to the recipient.

star maker for temperance. temperance in my opinion, symbolizes the muting of opposing influence for productivity. it is, in its most ancient greek origin (and according to socrates, quoted by plato in his politeia) the taming of the dragon in us. for the creation part, star maker symbolizes the very birthplace of the stars, fiery furnaces and scalding infernos which, in the process produces the stars, our sun., which gives life and vitality to all 9thus there is the aspect of creation through means generally viewed as destructive). for the taming of the dragon, there is the womb, the mother. Even in the most temperamental times, there is the mother to restrain the child and to teach virtues and the proper way of going about in things.

as for the empress, i used michiru (sailor neptune) because she embodies, among the warriors, the femminine maturity and retention of gracefullness which i associate with the empress. she older than the inner warriors and, has in her features, the closest to the embodiment of feminine fertility (with the exception of sailor moon as queen serenity)

for the emperor, i was looking for someone in the team which embodied the strong, masculine and authoritative power was shown. of course the more obvious choice wold have been tuxedo mask, or mamoru. but then i felt that haruka (sailor uranus), being somewhat boyish herself, generally exuded greater influence of such mentioned qualities in the team.

whew, that was rather long. i hope that answers your queries regarding my deck. i'm also open to other questions, suggestions and feedback regarding my deck.

as for publishing it, well i though about it but i also do not have the faintest idea on the rigths of the artist to the anime, as well as other legal aspects of this. i do hope to approach them in the future, but, i'll finish my deck first. good day to you all. :)

I really like the overall feel and 'look' of this deck. I wasn't expecting it to be a licensed product though. :)

catlin  23 Jul 2002
I got this one in my collection although I am no Sailor Moon fan but I think I'll keep it, just for collector's sake ;) ;)

I know, Pollux, but I have the sure feeling that the Sailor Moon will increase in value so I think I'll keep it a little bit longer })
